Described is a method performed by a downloadable agent, the method comprising: collecting WAN performance information, wherein the downloadable agent is executable on a computing device coupled to a LAN of a broadband subscriber, wherein the LAN is coupled by another device to a WAN; and transmitting the WAN performance information to a machine; wherein the machine is operable to: store and analyze the performance information to generate an analysis result; and report the analysis result to at least one of the broadband subscriber and its service provider. Described is a corresponding system which comprises a database; and a server coupled to the database, the server operable to: receive WAN performance information from a downloadable agent; store the information in the database, analyze the information to generate an analysis result; and report the analysis result to at least one of the broadband subscriber and the broadband subscriber's service provider.

A server coupled in communication with the WLAN, or an agent executing on at least one of the plurality of devices, receives input from the device to select one or more of the WLAN and the plurality of devices for which to report the current, and historical, performance and usage information to the device. The method also includes providing a record corresponding to the message, wherein the record is operable to store status information for the message. The method further includes storing a first status in the record, transmitting the message to a destination, and, in response to receiving an acknowledgement from the destination, storing a second status in the record.

A model volatility is calculated based on the swing range of percentiles, the estimated high and low usage, and a cumulative density function, such as a cumulative lognormal density function, for each time period in a plurality of time periods. The expected usage and the schedule of prices, along with any discount plans, are also used to calculate an estimated revenue.
