The invention relates to a system for fastening refastenable garment such as diaper or incontinent garment in which a tape and polymer backing material for the garment are provided such that tape may be removed after refastening to the diaper without tearing of the polymer material. The system of the invention utilizes a polypropylene tape material that is embossed on the outer surface and smooth on the adhesive-carrying surface. The adhesive on the tape is a semihard adhesive that provides high adhesion values to the polymer that nevertheless may be peeled free for removal of the tape and subsequent refastening. The polymer forming the outer backing if the diaper is a relatively thick, embossed polymer sheet. In the refastenable system of the invention the strength and adherence of the tape to the strong, embossed polymer backing sheet is controlled so as to achieve secure fastening with release of the adhesive from the embossed sheet without tearing.

A tampon having absorbent fibers is provided with a removal aid which does not interfere with absorbency. The removal aid is selected from a class consisting of the compounds myreth-3 myristate, glycereth polyethoxy cocoate and isopropyl palmitate.

Easily removable tampon

A tampon having a superabsorbent material included as part of its absorbent system and a moisture permeable outer wrapping. The outer wrap has an emollient covering a substantial portion to aid in withdrawal of the tampon without substantially affecting absorption of menstrual fluid.

An improved wrapper structure for tampons containing superabsorbent material. The wrapper provides the used tampon with a fluid-lubricated surface to ease withdrawal. The wrapper is a fluid-permeable web material having a saline fluid retention capacity sufficient to partially counteract the high capillary suction pressure exerted by superabsorbent fibers in the tampon core and thereby retain enough fluid in the wrapper during use to maintain the surface fibers of the wrapper in soft, lubricous condition.

Wrapper structure for tampons containing superabsorbent material

This invention is directed to a compressed catamenial tampon made up of a mass of absorbent fibers having intermixed therein a quantity of carboxymethylcellulose fibers containing free-acid carboxyl radicals and characterized by a high capacity for absorbing and retaining menstrual fluids. These carboxymethylcellulose fibers are modified by heat treatment to shorten the time it takes for such fibers to absorb a specified amount of fluid and thereby more effectively utilize their high capacity. The particular high capacity fibers are defined as carboxymethylcellulose fibers having a degree of substitution in the normally soluble range of about 0.4 to about 2.0 in which a part of the carboxyl groups are in free-acid form with the remainder in salt form.
