Systems and methods are disclosed herein for dynamic switching between legs in Carrier Aggregation (CA). In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device comprises operating to be configured for CA with a Primary Cell (PCell) and a Secondary Cell (SCell) and to configure a first Data Radio Bearer (DRB) associated to a first logical channel and a second DRB associated to a second logical channel. The method further comprises receiving a first parameter that restricts transmission for the first logical channel to the SCell and a second parameter that restricts transmission for the second logical channel to the PCell. The method further comprises receiving a dynamic indication that the SCell is deactivated, receiving an UL grant for the PCell, selecting data from either the first or second logical channel for transmission using the UL grant, regardless of the first and second parameters, and transmitting the selected data.

Signal injection in time division duplex (TDD) communication systems

Methods and apparatus are provided for calibrating an antenna array in a receiver. A training signal for calibrating the antenna array is injected into a data signal received on each receive path to generate combined signals on each receive path. The combined signals are equalized by respective equalizers. The coefficients of the equalizers are determined by comparing a feedback signal for each receive path with the equalized signal to estimate the impairment on each received path. The estimated impairment on each receive path is used to adapt the equalize coefficients for a respective equalizer to compensate for the impairment. After equalization, an estimate of the observed training signal on each receive path is subtracted from the equalized signal for the same receive path to generate estimates of the received data signals for demodulation and decoding.

Method and receiving terminal for real-time adaptive antenna calibration with training signal cancellation

A method and network entity for differentiated handling of at least one interaction of network nodes within a communication network. The method includes obtaining, at a first network node, information about a category of at least one second network node related to an interaction type, a communication channel having been established between the first network node and the at least one second network node, and selecting a communication algorithm based on the obtained information to provide the differentiated handling of the at least one interaction of network nodes within the communication network.

A method and apparatus for calibrating an antenna array are described. Input signals and feedback signals are received, where the feedback signal is a combination of the input signals as captured after having traversed transmit paths and prior to being transmitted at a plurality of sub-arrays. A first interference reduced feedback signals is determined. A current estimation of the impairment function is determined. A second interference reduced feedback signals based on the current estimation of the impairment function, the input signals and the feedback signal. Responsive to determining that the power of the second interference reduced feedback signal satisfies a selection criteria, the current estimation of the impairment function is caused to be used for each one of the plurality of transmit paths for calibration of the antenna array and removing distortion.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for determining the location of a wireless device in a shared cell deployment/system. In some embodiments, a method of operation of one or more network nodes comprises obtaining separate samples of at least a portion of one or more uplink transmissions received by at least a subset of a plurality of Receive/Transmit (R/T) points in a shared cell from a wireless device. The separate samples comprise, for each R/T point of the at least a subset of the plurality of R/T points in the shared cell, a sample of at least a portion of an uplink transmission received by the R/T point from the wireless device. The method further comprises performing multilateration based on range estimates for ranges between the wireless device and the at least a subset of the plurality of R/T points determined from the separate samples.

Timing based UE positioning in shared cell environment

Systems and methods are described herein relating to building and using one or more databases storing position-pair-dependent and/or node-dependent interference related information in a cellular communications system. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a node associated with one or more cellular communications networks includes obtaining position-pair-dependent interference related information for pairs of positions. The position-pair-dependent interference related information includes, for each pair of positions including a first position and a second position, information regarding interference caused by wireless transmissions originating at the first position to wireless receptions at the second position. The method further includes storing interference related information including the position-pair-dependent interference related information in one or more databases and providing access to the one or more databases. The database(s) enable, for example, improved location-based Radio Resource Management (RRM).

Systems and methods for passive proximity detection of wireless devices in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a supporting radio access node in a cellular communications network including one or more coverage radio access nodes in a coverage layer and one or more supporting radio access nodes in a supporting layer is disclosed. In this embodiment, the supporting radio access node detects a ranging signal transmitted by a wireless device while passively listening for a ranging signal. The supporting radio access node receives ranging assistance information from an anchor radio access node of the wireless device in the coverage layer and determines a range estimate for a range between the wireless device and the supporting radio access node based on the ranging signal transmitted by the wireless device and detected by the supporting radio access node and the ranging assistance information.

Passive proximity detection of wireless devices in a synchronous, cooperative network

It is presented a method for determining a position of a wireless device, the method being performed in a network node connected to a plurality of remote radio heads via a combiner. The method comprises the steps of: adjusting a weighting of an uplink signal for at least one of the remote radio heads; measuring a signal quality of a combined uplink signal received via the combiner; repeating the steps of adjusting and measuring until an exit condition is true; and determining a position of the wireless device based on how the measured signal quality differs for adjustments of weighting of the uplink signal for different remote radio heads.

Systems and methods for determining a location of a wireless device are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of operation of a central processing node for a shared cell of a cellular communications network includes obtaining signal strength measurements for a signal received from a wireless device at multiple Reception/Transmission (R/T) points in the shared cell. The signal strength measurements are simultaneous signal strength measurements made on signal discrimination space resources in an uplink of the shared cell. Further, the signal discrimination space resources are matched to capabilities of power meters utilized to generate the signal strength measurements. The method further includes identifying one or more of the R/T points having the best signal strength measurements and estimating a location of the wireless device based on known locations of the identified R/T point(s).

Method, apparatuses and system for improved wireless device location in shared cells

A wireless communication method and system are provided in which an uplink data stream that has uplink data associated with a user device is received. Channel performance data based at least in part on a portion of the uplink data stream is determined. A determination is made whether the channel performance data meets a predetermined performance level. The portion of the uplink data stream is discarded when the channel performance data does not meet the predetermined performance level. The portion of the uplink data stream is tagged for additional processing when the channel performance data meets the predetermined performance level.

Shared cell receiver for uplink capacity improvement in wireless communication networks

A method for determining whether a radio unit in a shared cell configuration is hearable by a user equipment is provided. Transmission of a probe message to the user equipment by the radio unit is caused. The probe message invokes a probe response from the user equipment if the radio unit is hearable by the user equipment on a downlink channel. The radio unit is hearable by the user equipment if the downlink channel performance between the radio unit and the user equipment meets a predetermined signal criteria. An uplink channel associated with the user equipment is monitored for the probe response from the user equipment after transmission of the probe message. Hearability data associated with the user equipment is determined based on the monitored uplink channel. The hearability data indicates whether the radio unit is hearable by the user equipment the downlink channel.
