A method of determining calcium metabolism in a patient comprises the steps of administering radioactive calcium isotopeCa to the patient, allowing a period of time to elapse sufficient for dissemination and reaction of the radioactive calcium isotopeCa by the patient, obtaining a sample of the radioactive calcium isotopeCa from the patient, isolating the calcium content of the sample in a form suitable for precise measurement of isotopic calcium concentrations, and measuring the calcium content to determine parameters of calcium metabolism in the patient.

Diagnosis and assessment of skeletal related disease using calcium 41

A liposome-entrapped calcitonin composition and method of use is disclosed. The composition when parenterally administerd to a host mammal, produces an enhanced and prolonged hypocalcemic effect in said mammal and thus is useful in treating diseases related to abnormal skeletal metabolism. The liposomes are substantially free of cholesterol and may be single or multilamellar.

Liposome-calcitonin preparation

Method for regulating serum calcium levels in mammals by orally administering a composition which includes a polypeptide hormone such as parathyroid hormone (PTH) or calcitonin. The polypeptide hormone is protected from destruction in the digestive tract by encapsulation in liposomes. The liposome preferably includes a cationic amphiphilic agent so that the surface of the liposome has a net positive charge. Agents for enhancing the action of the liposome encapsulated hormones are also disclosed.

Method and composition for regulating serum calcium levels of mammals

Novel oligopeptide used as reagents or in the preparation of reagents in relation to gamma-carboxyglutamic acid-containing protein of bone. Particularly, labeled oligopeptides and antibodies prepared from immunogen conjugates are disclosed for use in immunoassays.
