The disclosure provides a light-transmissive glass halogen filament tube with a filament light source having a coil concentricity ratio of not greater than 20% disposed therein, the filament tube having a multi-layer optical interference coating deposited on the outer surface thereof that transmits visible radiation from about 400-750 nm and reflects infra red radiation from about 800-2500 nm back to the filament for re-absorption, the coated filament tube exhibiting an LPW gain of at least 26%.

A method to eliminate filament hot shock in lamp filaments, particularly in compact filament light sources such as high efficiency infrared reflective coated halogen lamps, during installation or during energization comprising a voltage reduction circuit that reduces the voltage applied to the lamp filaments for a predetermined period of time and a timing circuit that is activated each time the lamp is energized and controls the predetermined period of time during which the voltage reduction circuit reduces voltage applied to the lamp filaments. Optionally, a one time latch circuit may be included that enables the timing circuit upon energization and disables it after the voltage reduction circuit has operated continuously for the predetermined period of time, and forever thereafter.

An electric lamp, such as an incandescent linear quartz heat lamp, is provided having a vitreous light transmissive envelope having an exterior surface and a light source capable of generating light within said envelope. Disposed on a portion of the exterior surface of the envelope is a diffuse reflective coating, such as a boron nitride coating, for reflecting at least a portion of the light emitted by the source. A protective silica coating encapsulates the reflective coating to protect the reflective coating from things such as abrasion, moisture, and cleaning solvents.

A coating of boron nitride disposed on a lamp arc tube or filament tube provides an integral reflector for reflecting light and heat emitted by the light source. One particularly useful application is linear, quartz incandescent heat lamps having a boron nitride coating disposed along one side of the filament chamber.

An electric incandescent lamp having an improved coiled refractory metal filament construction is disclosed which enables the lamp to provide a more precise light source. Various lamp and coiled filament configurations are disclosed to include employment of a reflective film for improved efficiency of lamp operation while a halogen substance can also be included in the inert gas filling for this purpose. A method to manufacture the disclosed lamp improvement is also provided.

Electric incandescent lamp and method of manufacture therefor

An electric incandescent lamp for selective radiant energy distribution is disclosed which employs a reflective film for improved efficiency of the lamp operation. Said lamp further employs a tungsten filament extending the length of its elongated lamp envelope with particular support means for said incandescent filament also being disclosed to precisely position the filament along the principal lamp axis. Various structural configurations for said particular support means are also disclosed so that such filament position is maintained regardless of the lamp spatial orientation.

A lamp adapted to various residential, commercial and industrial needs by a reflective film is disclosed. The disclosed lamp having the reflective film transmits desired portions of the radiation spectrum selected for impinging onto various mediums. Also disclosed are various arrangements of the reflective film along with various desired film characteristics selected for various mediums to be impinged.
