An exemplary hearing device is configured to be fit for a user. The hearing device maintains data representative of a first and a second fitting strategy for the hearing device, the first and the second fitting strategy comprising a first and a second set of values, respectively, for a plurality of parameters that specify an operation of the hearing device. The hearing device receives a value for a mixing setting that specifies a weighting between the first and the second fitting strategy. The hearing device determines, based on the value for the mixing setting, a custom fitting strategy comprising a custom set of values for the plurality of parameters, the custom set of values including combinations of the first and second sets of values that are weighted in accordance with the value for the mixing setting. The hearing device bases outputting of a signal on the custom fitting strategy.

Systems and methods for fitting a hearing device

The disclosed technology relates to a self fitting hearing device and a method for self fitting the hearing device. Specifically, the disclosed technology relates to transmitting calibration signals from a wireless communication device to a hearing device so that the wireless communication device can provide signals or audio streams calibrated for a self-fitting for a hearing device. The wireless communication device can receive feedback from a hearing device that received a calibration signal and use this feedback to adjust signals it transmits to a hearing device for self fitting. More specifically, the hearing device receiving the calibration signal can determine whether the calibration actually received by the hearing device has criteria that meets a threshold for properly fitting the hearing device.

A hearing system that includes a user control and a signal processing unit controllable by adjustable parameters can be adjusted to preferences of a user. Such an adjustment can involve providing a first set of start-up parameter settings upon start-up of said signal processor unit, using parameter settings included in or derived from said first set of start-up parameter settings as default parameter settings for said signal processing unit, obtaining a set of parameter settings currently used in said signal processing unit upon operating said user control, deriving a second set of start-up parameter settings in dependence of said first set of start-up parameter settings and of said set of parameter settings obtained, and using said second set of start-up parameter settings as said first set of start-up parameter settings when providing said first set of start-up parameter settings upon a following start-up of said signal processor unit.
