The invention provides fully aqueous-based antiperspirant compositions for application onto the skin for reducing or inhibiting body malodor and perspiration. The compositions contain blocked polyglycols which function as detackifiers and/or emollients, and which provide a completely soluble environment for the antiperspirant active ingredient. The compositions of the invention are stable, are easily and inexpensively prepared and manufactured, and provide versatile formulations which may be delivered and applied to the skin by a variety of means, including roll-ons, aerosols, and the like. Without the need for emulsions or stringent alcohol additives, the aqueous-based antiperspirant solution technology of the invention provides compositions that are clear, non-tacky, quick drying, and leave little to no visible residue or film on the skin following application.

Non-tacky and quick-drying aqueous-based antiperspirant compositions

The present invention provides tasteless liquid compositions for oral ingestion of pharmacologically active agents having basic moieties, wherein the compositions contain the basic pharmacologically active agent in the form of a salt of a pharmacologically acceptable organic acid, a silicate adsorbent and a sufficient amount of water to suspend the foregoing components. There are also provided methods of making these compositions.

Tasteless forms of basic drugs prepared by adsorption in situ

There is provided a chewable medicinal tableting composition comprising as proportions of the total composition which will further comprise the medicinally active component, as first essential component: capric triglyceride: about 30 to about 95% by weight, and as second essential component: the medicinally active ingredient: up to 60% by weight. Where the medicinally active ingrdient is less than about 30% by weight the composition further comprises as third essential component, a member of the group consisting of glyceryl monostearate, a mixture of glyceryl monostearate and glyceryl monopalmitate, and a mixture comprising at least about 40-50% by weight of glyceryl monostearate, and glyceryl distearate: up to 10% by weight. There are also disclosed methods of making these compositions.

A clear solid topical deodorant composition comprising 50 to 98% by weight of at least one water-insoluble ester of a water-soluble acid having solubility in water of greater than 50% w/w at 20.degree. C., 2 to 6% by weight of dibenzylidine sorbitol, 0 to 44% by weight of one or more optional ingredients, said composition being substantially free of water and of water-miscible solvents which are liquid at ambient temperature. In one embodiment, the water-insoluble liquid ester is present at 85-98% by weight of the composition.

A monophasic colorless transparent liquid aqueous composition comprising 0.05 to 2% by weight of one or more aromatic lipophiles; 0.05 to 2% by weight of the components of a salt of a divalent cation, M(B).sub.x, where M is a divalent cation selected from the group consisting of zinc and magnesium and B is a halide or sulfate and X is 1 when B is sulfate and 2 when B is a halide; 0.05 to 2% by weight of the components of a salt of a monovalent cation, Na(RSO.sub.4.sup.-), where R is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.8 to C.sub.20 alkyl groups; 5-15% by weight ethanol; and water to 100%, provided the ratio of the combined weights of M(B).sub.2 and Na(RSO.sub.4).sub.2 to the weight of said one or more aromatic lipophiles is from 0.8:1 to 2:1, and the stoichiometric ratio of {(M.sup.2+)+(B).sub.x } to {(Na.sup.+)+(RSO.sub.4.sup.-)} is between 3.5:1 and 8:1.

Aqueous monophasic compositions containing aromatic lipophiles

A monophasic colorless transparent liquid aqueous composition substantially free from ethanol, comprising 0.05 to 2% by weight of one or more aromatic lipophiles; 0.05 to 2% by weight of the components of a salt of a divalent cation, M(RSO.sub.4).sub.2, where M is a divalent cation selected from the group consisting of zinc and magnesium, and R is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.8 to C.sub.20 alkyl groups; and water to 100%, provided the ratio of the combined weights of the components of the divalent cation salt M(RSO.sub.4).sub.2 to the weight of said one or more aromatic lipophiles is from 1:1 to 2:1. There is also provided a method for solubilizing one or more aromatic lipophiles in an aqueous suspension.

Monophasic aqueous compositions containing aromatic lipophiles

There is provided an anhydrous topically applicable aerosol foam composition comprising a foamable anhydrous liquid, a foaming agent selected from the group consisting of methyl glucose C.sub.16 -C.sub.18 aliphatic acid esters and a propellant, said propellant being capable of existing in gaseous form at ambient pressure and temperature and being present in an amount sufficient to produce a stable measurable foam but insufficient to produce a spray when said composition is ejected through an aerosol valve.

A substantially anhydrous composition suitable for topical application which contain 10-80% by weight of an anhydrous base which is liquid or semi-solid at room temperature; and 5-50% by weight of polyolefin microspherical particles having an average diameter of less than 25 microns, the amount of microspherical particles constituting at least 30% by weight of the anhydrous base.

There is provided a shaving facilitator comprising a composition of pH 5.0-10.0, compounded from a polyethylene oxide polymer (PEOP) a polysulfonic acid polymer (PSAP) and a topically acceptable base. The shaving of hirsute areas of skin is facilitated by applying such a composition to said areas prior to the application of a shaving soap product thereto. Additionally this polymer composition can be incorporated in other, conventional shaving products such as lotions for women's legs and underarms or in aerosol shave foam for use by men and women.

There is provided an orally ingestible liquid composition for suspending therein an orally administrable pharmaceutically active composition releasable over an extended period of time comprises triglyceride of a medium chain length alkanoic acid or distilled acetylated monoglycerides, a liquid, high HLB polyglyceryl ester, and colloidal silicon dioxide together with a material soluble or dispersible therein and capable of being insolubilized by a pharmaceutically acceptable polyvalent cation and a solid pharmaceutically acceptable salt containing the cation required therefore. Sustained release compositions based thereon containing pharmaceutically active agents are also disclosed.

Liquid orally administrable compositions based on edible oils

There is provided a shelf stable solution of aspirin, free of moieties reactive with aspirin, suitable for topical application to the skin compounded from aspirin, N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide USP (DEET), glyceryltriacetate USP (GTA), and acetic anhydride, provided that where GTA is present, at least 20 parts of DEET shall also be present and, after all components shall have been mixed, the resultant solution shall contain an initial amount of between about 1 and about 0.2 parts of acetic anhydride. The solution is made by preparing a solvent component consisting of at least N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide USP (DEET), and, if desired, glyceryltriacetate USP (GTA), provided that where GTA is present, at least 20 parts of DEET shall also be present, assaying said solvent mixture to determine the hydroxyl content, adding sufficient acetic anhydride to provide between about 1 and about 0.2 parts of unreacted acetic anhydride in the solution after dissolution of the aspirin therein, and dissolving aspirin, thereinto.

A manually operated childproof dispenser has a plunger head located at an upper end of a housing and is axially displaceable from an initial position and rotatable relative to the housing. The plunger head has an annular skirt with a notch. A ring having a notch surrounds and is rotatable about the skirt. The ring is axially displaceable together with the plunger head. A dispensing nozzle extends radially outward from the housing and is located below the ring. The notches are aligned with the nozzle to facilitate depression of the plunger head to dispense the desired product.

Childproof dispenser

A stable, edible anhydrous aerosol foam comprises a foamable liquid oil, a foaming agent, a food grade propellant, and at least 15 wt % dispersed solid particles including an adsorbate of an active therapeutic agent on magnesium aluminum silicate. The foam is a stable whip having the consistency of whipped cream and can be dispensed in repeatable and measurable quantities onto a spoon. It is useful to dispense a wide variety of active, therapeutic agents and, in particular, as an alternative to tablets or capsules which are hard to swallow or liquid medicines having a bad taste.
