A high production surface broaching machine, in which a plurality of parts are located and clamped simultaneously in broaching position, broached, and simultaneously unclamped and discharged into an outchute. The plurality of parts are moved horizontally into position below the broaching position, and are then raised into accurately located broaching position against horizontal locating and ejection bar means. After broaching, the bar means pushes the broached parts down into laterally open recesses in an elongated bar, which is then moved longitudinally relative to a cam which guides the parts out of the recesses into an outchute.

Broaching machine

A broaching machine for pot-broaching teeth or ribs on the exterior of a workpiece in which the workpiece is not suitable for having sliding contact with axially extending guide surfaces in the broach to maintain the workpiece centralized therein. The machine comprises a toothed pusher on which a workpiece is centered, the teeth of the pusher registering with the teeth formed in the workpiece by broaching slots therein, at least some of the pusher teeth having end surfaces extending radially beyond the teeth formed by broaching on the workpiece, to maintain the crests of the teeth or ribs on the workpiece in clearance as the workpiece moves through the broach.

Pot broach

An automatic machine tool having a tool holder for moving a plurality of tools into working relation to a plurality of work parts, and mechanically actuated means effective to terminate machine operation if any one tool is missing from the tool holder.

Broaching machine safety

A fully automatic machine tool for simultaneously broaching parallel slots on a plurality of workpieces mounted on a rotatable table in which the table is indexed between a plurality of broaching operations to revolve the workpieces and hence to effect rotation of the workpieces about their own axes with respect to the path of broaching tools.

An automatic machine tool for sequentially machining a plurality of parallel surfaces on a plurality of work pieces, in which the work pieces are locked in position on an index table, and the surfaces machined in one operation are angularly disposed to the surfaces machined in a contiguous operation as a result of revolving the work pieces about the axis of the table.

Six station broaching machine

A broaching machine broaches a multiplicity of generally flat work pieces having a projection at only one side, which are advanced in a single file with the projections extending in the same direction. In order to broach the work pieces in stacked pairs in which the peripheries of the work pieces are continuous, rather than spaced apart by confronting projections, half of the work pieces are inverted and a pair consisting of one inverted work piece and one work piece which has not been inverted are stacked together and presented to a pot broach which broaches the peripheries of both work pieces of the pair in continuous cutting strokes. The finished work pieces are advanced away from the broaching station in stacked condition and are separated into two groups, one of which consists of the bottom work pieces of the pair and the otherconsists of the top work pieces of the pair. This places all work pieces in the same orientation with respect to the lateral projection. The work pieces are then fed alternatively into a single file conveyor.

Pot broach machine with turn-over loader

A pot broaching machine for cutting small pinions from the solid for use with a pull-up broaching machine, the pot having a multiplicity of solidly abutting flat-sided internally toothed cutting rings and internally slotted support rings, with elongated toothed sticks received in the slots of said support rings, automatic loading and unloading means, and guide means to guide a work blank as it enters the broach.

A machine for rolling hypoid gears, particularly ring gears, in mesh with a tool in the form of a hypoid gear. Work pieces are provided at a station with their teeth located in a precisely predetermined angular position. From this station they are transported into alignment with a rotary work spindle which at this time is fixed against rotation in a random position. The gear-like tool is secured to a spindle which is fixed in a precisely located angular position so that the teeth of the gear and tool are in proper angular alignment. The gear is fixed on the work spindle and the work and tool spindles are relatively moved to mesh the gear and tool, after which both spindles are released for rotation and one spindle is positively driven in rotation.

Gear rolling equipment

A machine for rolling hypoid gears, particularly pinions having a stem projecting from one side, in mesh with a tool in the form of a hypoid ring gear. Work pieces are provided at a preliminary loading station with their teeth located in a precisely predetermined angular position. From this station they are transported into alignment with a rotary work spindle which at this time is fixed against rotation in a random position. The gear-like tool is secured to a spindle which is fixed in a precisely located angular position so that the teeth of the gear and tool are in proper angular alignment.
