An occlusive implant with a backbone support structure can be delivered into a body vessel using a delivery assembly that can engage with at least a portion of the implant. The assembly can utilize an engagement member and an engagement socket or a catheter or sheath to removably couple the engagement member with the implant. When the implant is advanced to a target location in the body vessel, the implant can be released to restrict flow of a fluid through the vessel and/or promote occlusion of the vessel.

Occlusive implant and delivery system

A method of implanting an occlusive device in a perforator vessel may include introducing a needle through skin of a patient, and advancing the needle into a perforator vessel, the perforator vessel extending between a superficial vein and a deep vein. The method may further include distally advancing a delivery component from within the needle until a distal end of the delivery component extends into the deep vein and releasing a distal portion of the occlusive device into the deep vein. The needle may then be proximally withdrawn from the perforator vessel such that the device is exposed within the vessel, and the proximal portion of the device may be released into the superficial vein such that the device blocks flow through the vessel.

Treatment of incompetent vessels

A method for treating an aneurysm can include inserting a medical device partially in a first artery and partially in a third artery. The device can be expanded radially outwardly from a first, position to a second position to engage an inner surface of the first artery and an inner surface of the third artery, so as to maintain a fluid pathway through said arteries. Further, the device can be positioned such that, when the device is in the second position, a porous membrane of the device is located at a neck of the aneurysm.

Medical device

An occlusive implant can be delivered into a body vessel using a delivery assembly that can engage with at least a portion of the implant. The assembly can utilize an engagement member and an engagement socket or a catheter or sheath to removably couple the engagement member with the implant. When the implant is advanced to a target location in the body vessel, the implant can be released to restrict flow of a fluid through the vessel and/or promote occlusion of the vessel.

An implant may include a frame and a cover to facilitate endoluminal vessel occlusion, selective release of embolic material toward a target region, and/or endoluminal stenting. The frame of the implant provides radial expansion properties to secure the cover within a body vessel. The cover and/or the frame can occlude flow of a fluid through the body vessel.

Implantable luminal devices

A method for treating an aneurysm can include inserting a medical device partially in a first artery and partially in a third artery. The device can be expanded radially outwardly from a first position to a second position to engage an inner surface of the first artery and an inner surface of the third artery, so as to maintain a fluid pathway through said arteries. Further, the device can be positioned such that, when the device is in the second position, a porous membrane of the device is located at a neck of the aneurysm.

An implant device can include a frame and a cover member for delivery to and occlusion of a target body vessel. The frame can include proximal and distal members, coupled by a link member structure, and can expand from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration. In the collapsed configuration, a first plane passes through the proximal member and a second plane passes through the distal member, and the link member extends substantially parallel relative to a longitudinal axis of the device. In moving to the expanded configuration, the first and second planes each move angularly, relative to the longitudinal axis, from the collapsed configuration by between about 10 degrees and about 170 degrees, and the link member foreshortens along the longitudinal axis to bias the proximal member toward the distal member.

A method for treating a subject diagnosed with a cancer or other disorder comprising a hyperproliferative tissue is described herein. The method includes localized delivery of a material which contains a therapeutically effective agent and/or moiety. The localized delivery of the agent is achieved using a catheter-based delivery system and an implant. An implant can include a support component, a cover component, and a valve component. The valve component can be operable to permit flow through the implant. The implant can be delivered on a catheter, with one of the ends of the implant being selectively expanded to permit temporary occlusion of a vessel while delivering a material through the valve component to a downstream target region. The other end of the implant can thereafter be released such that the implant occludes the vessel, or the implant can be removed from the vessel entirely.

Catheter-assisted tumor treatment

An occlusion system can include an expandable implant that can be delivered to a bodily lumen. The implant can be carried on an engagement section of a catheter used in the system. The implant can be assembled onto the catheter by coupling a cover member of the implant with a support member of the implant. When assembled, the system can be advantageously configured to have a low delivery profile to facilitate delivery through catheters having a size of less than 7 Fr, and in some cases, less than 6 Fr.

Bodily lumen occlusion

An occlusion device delivery system can deliver an implant using a catheter. A distal section of the catheter has proximal and distal apertures extending through a wall of the catheter. The implant can be wound about the distal section and secured to the catheter via an engagement mechanism. The implant has a proximal segment that curves inwardly across the proximal aperture and a distal segment that curves inwardly across the distal aperture. The engagement mechanism engages the proximal and distal segments within their respective apertures to secure the implant to the catheter.

Blood vessel occlusion

An implant can include a support component, a cover component, and a valve component. The valve component can be operable to permit flow through the implant. The implant can be delivered on a catheter, with one of the ends of the implant being selectively expanded to permit temporary occlusion of a vessel while delivering a material through the valve component to a downstream target region. The other end of the implant can thereafter be released such that the implant occludes the vessel, or the implant can be removed from the vessel entirely.

A medical device for insertion into a bodily vessel to treat an aneurysm (), the device comprising: a mechanically expandable device () expandable from a first position to a second position, said mechanically expandable device () is expanded radially outwardly to the second position such that the exterior surface of said mechanically expandable () engages with the inner surface of the vessel so as to maintain a fluid pathway through said vessel; and a membrane () expandable from a first position to a second position in response to expansion of said mechanically expandable device (), said membrane () obstructing blood circulation to the aneurysm () when expanded to the second position, and at least a portion of the membrane () is secured to the mechanically expandable device () to maintain the position of the membrane () relative to the mechanically expandable device () when expanded to the second position.
