An embodiment provides a method, including: operating a motor to position sample fluid within a fluid channel of a cuvette; transmitting light through an optical chamber of the cuvette; measuring a value of received light that has been transmitted through the optical chamber; comparing the measured value of light to one or more thresholds; determining a position of the sample fluid within the fluid channel based on a comparison from the comparing step; and generating a response based upon the position of the sample fluid with the fluid channel. Mobile water analysis

An embodiment provides a cuvette, including: a body having a fluid channel therein; and an outer surface having encoded information disposed thereon and readable by a reader of a sample instrument. Other aspects are described and claimed.

An embodiment provides a cuvette apparatus including: a lid and a body, the body including a fluid channel disposed therein; and the lid including at least one opening aligned with a portion of the fluid channel, thereby providing access to the fluid channel in the body. A differential pH probe design uses a container having an outer surface and an inner volume, where the inner volume is divided into a first chamber and a second chamber. A first pH-sensitive area is located on the outer surface of the first chamber where the first pH-sensitive area is configured to be exposed to a sample. A second pH-sensitive area is located on the outer surface of the second chamber where the second pH-sensitive area is shielded from the sample and is exposed to a buffer solution. A first electrode is configured to detect a first voltage in the first chamber and a second electrode is configured to detect a second voltage in the second chamber. Circuitry is coupled to the first and second electrodes and configured to process the first voltage and the second voltage to determine a pH of the sample.

Differential pH probe

A carrierless method is described for the analysis of a fluid sample for determination of the presence of a chemical species in the sample or for the determination of a physical characteristic of the sample. A portion of sample is drawn into a holding coil, followed by drawing one or more reagents (if desired) into the holding coil, then moving the sample and reagent (or reagents) through the reaction coil to a detector (e.g., calorimeter, potentiometer, ion selective electrode, fluorimetric detector, photometric detector, etc.). No separate carrier fluid is used in this method.
