This invention relates to the extrusion coating of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) onto paperboard. Such structures of this type, generally, provide an enhanced film adhesion of the PET onto the paperboard, while reducing the coat weights of the PET.

This invention relates to a method for producing anti-counterfeit paper. Such processes of this type, generally, add a certain percentage of wood fiber lumens which have been loaded with one or more fluorescent agents. These wood fiber lumens would look normal under regular light, but will glow when exposed to various manners of radiation.

This invention relates to recently developed systems which produced bleached recycled fibers from high lignin content recovered paper materials such as old corrugated containers and old newspapers. Such systems of this type, generally, use chemical digestion (e.g., the kraft process) to reduce the lignin content prior to bleaching. Since recovered paper materials normally have high levels of aluminum, which are derived from the paper sizing and pH control chemical, aluminum sulfate; and since soluble aluminum causes scaling of evaporators in the kraft digestion-chemical recovery cycle, there is a need for a means to remove soluble aluminum from the recovered paper materials prior to digestion.

A method is disclosed for producing, in a continuous throughput, high quality paper from recycled waste paper utilizing high consistency, low shear pulping, followed by a series of cleaning steps to produce a wet, friable pulp which is digested and optionally bleached. The resulting pulp can be run on a paper machine alone or blended with virgin pulp to produce a paper containing at least 5 by weight recycled paper with less than 20 ppm per unit area solid non-fibrous contaminants larger than 0.3 mm.sup.2, and which may be blade coated on a high speed paper machine.
