A biocide-free sponge cloth prewetted with a hygroscopically acting inorganic salt is provided. The spone cloth is based on regenerated cellulose which is mechanically reinforced with fibers and/or a web and includes a hygroscopically acting salt. The sponge cloth has an avalue of less than 0.80. On account of the low avalue, the sponge cloth has an antibacterial, bacteriostatic, fungicidal and/or fungistatic effect. The hygroscopically acting salt is preferably magnesium chloride. It can be combined with further inorganic salts, with low molecular weight, mono- or polyhydric alcohols, with sugars, sugar esters, mono- or polybasic carboxylic acids, esters of mono- or polybasic carboxylic acids and/or with hydrophilic polymers. The sponge cloth is preferably produced by the viscose process.

Biocide-free prewetted sponge cloth

A cellulose sponge cloth containing a net or grid as internal reinforcement is provided, with the sponge cloth further including a uniform distribution of fibers and/or durably softening polymers that are not water-leachable. The sponge cloth is produced by the viscose process by mixing with the fibers and/or the softening polymers and the pore former with cellulose xanthate and forming the resulting sponge cloth raw material into a thin layer. The grid or net is placed onto this layer, followed by a further layer of the sponge cloth raw material. Coagulation and regeneration baths and optional wash baths are used to dissolve the pore former out of the sponge cloth and regenerate the cellulose. The sponge cloth is bend-resistant, it does not break in the dry state. The sponge cloth is envisioned for cleaning and decontamination.

The invention relates to a sponge cloth based on cellulose and having an internal reinforcement, obtainable by the amine oxide process. In the process, a solution of cellulose in an aqueous amine oxide is first produced, which is then mixed with at least one pore former and fibers. The mixture is spread on a conveyor belt which is then guided through a coagulating bath comprised of a diluted aqueous amine oxide solution whose temperature is high enough such that the pore former melts and is dissolved out. Remaining amine oxide is washed out. After subsequent drying the sponge cloth layer is end-itemed. Contrary to the viscose process polymer degradation does not occur in the inventive process which results in a sponge cloth having an improved mechanical stability. A plastic net can replace the fiber reinforcement. The process is especially ecological and economical. The sponge cloth is highly water-absorbent and can be used for household or industrial purposes, especially for cleaning and decontaminating purposes.

Sponge towel based on cellulose and a method for producing the same

A tubular food casing based on regenerated cellulose, which casing may be fiber-reinforced, is coated on its inner surface with a copolymer which includes 50 to 84% by weight of vinylidene chloride units, 2 to 20% by weight of acrylonitrile units, 1 to 10% by weight of acrylic acid units, and 1 to 47% by weight of (C -C )alkyl (meth)acrylate units. The casing has high water vapor barrier and oxygen barrier characteristics. The shirring folds and lay-flat edges which result during the production and processing of the casing remain undamaged over long storage periods. The inner coating, in addition, shows no hot-water haze on simmering. The casing is particularly suitable as an artificial sausage casing.

A cellulose-hydrate-based food casing impregnated on its inside with liquid smoke which has a pH of about 2 to less than 4 and additionally contains a viscosity-increasing compound, an emulsifier and a triglyceride or lecithin.

The present invention relates to a regenerated cellulose based sponge material with an inner viscose fiber reinforcement having a staple fiber length of 5-50 mm and impregnated with a biocide agent. Also disclosed is a regenerated cellulose based sponge material with an inner cotton fiber reinforcement having a staple fiber length of 5-50 mm and impregnated with a biocide agent. The coagulation and regeneration takes place in a bath that has a pH of 13 or higher and which includes Glauber's salt, NaOH and water.

A modified liquid smoke solution containing unmodified aqueous liquid smoke solution, an alkaline neutralizing agent, a synthetic and/or natural oil, a viscosity-increasing component, and one or more emulsifier(s) can be applied to the inner and/or outer surface of a cellulose food casing resulting in uniform smoke transfer to encased food.
