A composition comprising a dioctyl tin mercaptide, a zinc salt of a fatty acid such as zinc stearate and a conventional phosphite ester stabilizer is effective in stabilizing PVC resins. The stabilized resins exhibit excellent initial color and stability under processing conditions.

Stabilization composition for clear, impact-modified PVC

A process for preparing certain phosphite-isocyanurate oligomers. The process requires the reaction of a trishydroxyalkyl isocyanurate with a tris-organophosphite and, optionally, an alcohol or alkylphenol. The process is promoted by an alkaline catalyst such as sodium methoxide. The oligomeric product is useful as a thermal stabilizer in polymer compositions.

Process for preparing phosphite-isocyanurates oligomers

An olefin polymer composition having improved stability to deterioration resulting from exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The enhanced stability results from the effective presence of a combination of an organic phosphite ester and a hydroxybenzophenone.

Light-stable polyolefins

Aromatic, phenol-free polyphosphites containing at least two pentaerythritol residues and three bis-phenolic residues. They are effective polymer additives and are especially useful in enhancing the thermal stability of polypropylene.

Oligomeric aromatic polyphosphites

An olefin polymer composition containing an ultraviolet light stabilizer. The ultraviolet light stabilizer is a zerovalent nickel complex the organic portion of which is an ester of pentaerythritol phosphite.

Certain phosphite-isocyanurate oligomers and their use as thermal stabilizers in polymer compositions. The phosphite-isocyanurates may be prepared from a tris-hydroxyalkyl isocyanurate by reaction with an organic phosphite such as triphenyl phosphite or tributyl phosphite. Optionally, an alcohol such as decyl alcohol may be employed as a reactant.

Light-stable polypropylene compositions

A process for the preparation of mixed aromatic-aliphatic phosphites. The process involves the reaction of an alkylphenol with diphenyl-(or a lower dialkyl-) pentaerythritol diphosphite. The process is simple and inexpensive, and produces a relatively pure product.

Polyolefins stabilized with cyclic diphosphites

An olefin polymer composition containing a cyclic, hindered amine in combination with an organic phosphite ester. The composition is relatively stable in the presence of ultraviolet light.

Stabilized olefin polymers

This invention of the present application relates to the stabilizing component in the stabilization of olefin polymers, especially polypropylene during processing, i.e., at elevated temperatures. The stabilizing component is a phosphite-isocyanurate compound having the structural formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrocarbon radical and R.sup.1 is methyl or hydrogen.

Phosphite-isocyanurates

An ultraviolet stabilizer for olefin polymers. It is a combination of a 2-hydroxyphenylbenzotriazole, a dialkyl pentaerythritol diphosphite and a phenolic ester oxidation inhibitor.

Stabilized polyolefins

Flame-retardant polymer compositions containing a pentaerythritol diphosphonate and a halogenated organic compound having at least about 30% halogen. Dimethyl pentaerythritol disphosphonate, i.e., ##STR1## is a preferred ingredient of the composition, as is polypropylene.

Flame-retardant phosphonate compositions

Stabilization of olefin polymers against deterioration in the presence of copper. The stabilization is accomplished by means of a small proportion of a bis-phosphoramidate having the structure ##STR1## where the R's are inert, organic groups.

Olefin polymers stable to copper

Heat-curable ethylene polymer compositions wherein triallyl phosphate is used as a coagent. The composition also contains an organic peroxide catalyst.
