The present invention includes an improved sprinkler design having a magnetic sensing system for determining the position of the riser nozzle, a waterproofed motor housing and related cables, configurable sprinkler body compartments, and a pilot valve with a check valve assembly, both of which are located within the sprinkler body.

Sprinkler assembly

In one embodiment, a medical device includes a tissue suction housing and a moveable member disposed in the tissue suction housing. The tissue suction housing has a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end has an opening and the tissue suction housing has at least two suturing device openings. The tissue suction housing is configured to pull up bodily tissue through the opening in the distal end when placed under a vacuum and to receive a suturing device through one of the suturing device openings.

Suction fixation device and method

According to an aspect of the present invention, surgical films for soft tissue repair are provided. The surgical films comprise at least one sheet of a non-filamentous material within which pores are formed. Further aspects of the invention, among others, pertain to methods of using such surgical films and to kits containing such surgical films.

Porous surgical films

A container having affixed thereto an ultrasonic transducer, including a connection for electrically linking the transducer to electronic circuitry located outside the container. Flexible and semi-rigid containers having rigid structures surrounding the signal path of an ultrasonic transducer are also provided. In addition, adaptors are disclosed for use in connecting an ultrasonic transducer to a container. Such adaptors can include a rigid tubular member, a tubular outlet connected to the tubular member for draining liquid from a container, and a seat for engaging an ultrasonic transducer.

Container and adaptor for use with fluid volume sensor

A volume sensing system includes electronic circuitry which is electrically connected to an ultrasonic transducer. The transducer is affixed by means of an adaptor to the base of a container having a known configuration. The container holds a liquid and a gas so that a liquid-gas boundary is formed within the container. The transducer generates ultrasonic pulses which propagate through the liquid, are reflected at the liquid-gas boundary, and are received again by the transducer. The received return pulse is converted into an electrical signal which is analyzed by the electronic circuitry to determine the level of the liquid within the container. The level of the liquid within the container is then employed to determine the volume of the liquid within the container in accordance with the configuration of the container. In a preferred embodiment, the adaptor includes an indicator which may be used to identify the configuration of the container.

Fluid volume sensor

Disclosed is a vacuum regulator apparatus such as for automatically establishing and maintaining a predetermined vacuum for withdrawing fluid from a chest cavity. The apparatus comprises a water manometer or vacuum regulator portion and a water seal portion. Atmospheric air is vented into the vacuum line through the vacuum regulator portion by displacing a predetermined height column of a fluid such as water. A filter is disclosed for preventing the escape of water from the manometer portion of the apparatus into the downstream vacuum source. A second filter is disclosed for permitting two way gas flow at the upstream end of the manometer portion, but for substantially preventing fluid flow in an upstream direction out of the manometer. Fluid fill ports are disclosed on the manometer and water seal portions for permitting infusion of water to precise and repeatable column heights.

A computer terminal keyboard is sealed by a molded elastomeric top cover, shaped to conform to the housing and keys of the keyboard, and a bottom cover shaped to enclose the base of and secure the top cover around its periphery to the keyboard housing. The top cover is shaped to provide a substantially planar surface on the top plate with elevated individual key covers integrally formed in the top cover. Portitons of the top cover extending over the top face and sides of the keyboard housing are formed in a first thickness sufficient to provide a durable covering. Portions of the top cover immediately adjacent and between the individual key covers, and the sides of the key covers, are formed in a reduced, second thickness to allow for flexure as the keys are depressed. The top surface of the top cover is planar so that spilled liquid and debris are easily wiped or brushed away from around and between the key covers. The bottom cover is formed of a rigid material and has edges shaped to mate snugly against wraparound flanges on the periphery of the top cover. The bottom cover secured by screws in existing screw holes in the underside of the keyboard housing.

Sealed computer terminal keyboard

The disclosure herein sets forth a pleural drainage/autotransfusion unit in combination with a cardiotomy reservoir having a vacuum regulating chamber in connected relationship to the pleural drainage/autotransfusion unit. The vacuum regulating chamber is formed of a portion of said cardiotomy reservoir unit and extends along the axial direction of the reservoir of the autotransfusion unit and can be connected to a source of vacuum. A water seal is interposed between the vacuum regulating chamber and the interior of the reservoir in order to provide for water sealed negative pressure within the reservoir. The function of the cardiotomy reservoir and the pleural drainage/autotransfusion unit can be changed by means of connections that have spring loaded tangs that engage a flange of a barbed inlet port. The connection is sealed by means of a resilient plastic material engaging the barbed inlet ports and can be readily removed therefrom and sealed without the requirement of sealing a tube which has been shrunken over the barbs of the inlet port.
