The downlink control channels in a control region of each downlink subframe in a telecommunication system are divided into at least one common subset of the downlink control channels and a plurality of group subsets of the downlink control channels, such that the common subset or each common subset will be decoded by every user equipment, and each group subset will be decoded only by a limited group of user equipments. Resource assignment messages for a user equipment can then be transmitted on a downlink control channel of the relevant group subset, to avoid the need for messages to be decoded by a large number of UEs that will not act on them, while broadcast messages can be transmitted on a downlink control channel of the relevant common subset, to avoid the need for messages to be transmitted many times.

Method and arrangement in a telecommunication system

A method relating to handover in a communication system is disclosed. The method comprises establishing that a communication device is involved in a handover process from a first cell to a second cell, and increasing at least one of diversity and transmission power of a scheduling assignment transmitted on physical downlink control channel resources, wherein the physical downlink control channel resources are multiplexed with data resources in one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, OFDM, symbols and wherein the scheduling assignment is specific for the communication device. A corresponding communication system, computer programs and computer program products are also disclosed.

Method and system relating to handover

The present disclosure relates to a method () relating to handover in a communication system (). The method () comprises establishing () that a communication device () is involved in a handover process from a first cell (C) to a second cell (C); and increasing () transmission power of a scheduling assignment specific for the communication device (). The disclosure also relates to a system, computer program and computer program products.

A method performed by a network node, for improving the performance of a handover of a user equipment (UE), wherein the network nodeserves a first cellcomprising one or more UEs. When the network nodehas detected that a Signaling Radio Bearer (SRB) is determined to be scheduled for a UEin handover from the first cellto a second cell, the network nodeincreases the Control Channel Element (CCE) aggregation level in an OFDM-subframe to be sent to the UEin a TTI related to the handover. By increasing the CCE aggregation level during a handover procedure, the effective coding rate of the PDCCH is increased, which leads to a more robust coding and reliability. Thereby the number of unsuccessful handovers and lost service is effectively reduced.

Increasing robustness of handover signalling by increasing the aggregation level of control channel elements

A method in a base station for handling a scheduling of a narrowband transmission from a user equipment in a cell served by the base station is provided. The base station and the user equipment are comprised in a cellular network. A time resource available for the scheduling is divided into available subframes. A frequency resource available for scheduling in each respective subframe is divided into available resource blocks. The base station selects a subframe among the subframes available for scheduling. Narrowband transmissions are to be prioritized for scheduling to the selected subframe. The base station schedules the transmission to a subset of the available resource blocks in the selected subframe when an indication that the transmission from the user equipment is a narrowband transmission is obtained.

Methods and arrangements for handling a scheduling of a narrowband transmission in a cellular network

It is presented a method for determining an initial configuration of generation of uplink reference signals for a wireless terminal, the method being performed in a network node. The method comprises: obtaining at least one parameter used in a random access procedure associated with the wireless terminal, wherein each one of the at least one parameter is associated with the wireless terminal; and determining an initial configuration for the wireless terminal for generation of uplink reference signals, based on the at least one parameter. A corresponding network node is also presented.

Automatically adjust the size of a Physical Uplink Control Channel, PUCCH, of an uplink communication subframe. In a particular embodiment, the size of a semi-static region of the PUCCH is adjusted. The adjustment is based on a utilization factor of the PUCCH over a time period. The adjustment can also be based on the connection factor (connections between the wireless terminals and the cell) and/or based on the utilization factor of a PUSCH (Physical Uplink Shared Channel). The result is an efficient resource utilization on the PUCCH, and a properly dimensioned PUCCH region.

A basic idea is to introduce an additional paging schedule for user equipment in connected mode that differs from the paging schedule used for user equipment in idle mode. Consequently, the inventive mechanism relies on distributing (S) a notification of an upcoming change of system information in paging messages according to a first paging schedule for user equipment in idle mode, and distributing (S) a notification of an upcoming change of system information in paging messages according to a second paging schedule for user equipment in connected mode. Disclosed herein are systems and methods for choosing the size of the control region of a downlink subframe. For example, an apparatus for selecting the size of the control region based on a set of one or more physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) is disclosed. The apparatus, in some embodiments, includes: a module configured to determine, for each of at least two or more control region sizes included in a set of two or more control region sizes, a subset of PDCCHs from said set of PDCCHs that can be assigned to a control region having a size equal to the control region size; and control region size selector for selecting a control region size for the subframe, wherein the control region size selector is configured to make the selection based, at least in part, on information pertaining to the subset of PDCCHs that can be assigned to a control region having a size equal to the selected control region size.
