A medical composition comprising an antimicrobially effective and immunostimulating amount of a combination of a &#x3b2;-glucan component and a silver-containing component is disclosed. The medical composition may be adapted for use topically or incorporated with a mesh material which may be further adapted for use as a wound dressing or as a surgical mesh. Methods for manufacturing the medical compositions described herein are also provided. The invention further provides methods for treating tissue damaged by wound or burn, and methods for treating or repairing tissue at a surgical site.

Biocompatible tissue graft material for implant and method of making

A biocompatible graft material and a method for making the same are disclosed. The method of making the graft material involves freezing and subsequently thawing a donated tissue sample in a bleach solution. The tissue is then washed in a detergent solution, treated with antimicrobial agents, and soaked in a hypertonic solution. The tissue is thereafter treated with sodium hydroxide and later hydrogen peroxide to yield the desired biocompatible graft material.

Biocompatible tissue for therapeutic use and method of making same

The invention is directed to a hard tablet that can be stored, packaged and processed in bulk. Yet the tablet dissolves rapidly in the mouth of the patient with a minimum of grit. The tablet is created from an active ingredient mixed into a matrix of a nondirect compression filler and a relatively high lubricant content.

Rapidly dissolving robust dosage form

The invention is a blister package for containing frangible dosage forms while protecting the dosage forms from damage during transport and opening of the package. A blister sheet defines one or more recesses in which frangible dosage forms are disposed and a peelable sheet of lidding material overlies the recesses to cover the dosage forms therein. The dosage forms engage each recess to prevent shifting of the dosage form during transport. Indicia on the blister package directs the user with regard to the procedure for opening the package without damaging the dosage forms. Unsealed areas in the package, which provide a portion of lidding material which the user can grab to peel open the package, are provided with dimples which hide the grabable portion of lidding material from children.
