A flexible pipe fatigue monitoring systemcomprising a pipe monitoring systemadapted to be provided on a flexible pipehaving a bend stiffener. The pipe monitoring systemis provided on the pipebelow the bend stiffener. The monitoring systemmeasures one or more of bending, tension and torsion of the pipe. The pipe monitoring systemcomprises sensor carrier membersadapted to be coupled to the pipeand at least one fiber Bragg grating strain sensor embedded in a carrier member. An inclinometeris provided on one carrier memberto measure the incline of the piperelative to earth. A central processoris provided to receive bending, tension and torsion information and incline information, and is operable to determine pipe fatigue from said information. A method of flexible pipe fatigue monitoring is also provided.
