The present invention relates to a method and a device for producing perforated propellant in the geometric form of block, stick, slab, cylindrical or tubular propellant () with high charge density and high progressivity. The propellant as claimed in the present invention is characterised by a large number of perforations, densely and evenly distributed over the entire propellant segments, made by perforation members () that are pressed down into the propellant. The perforations are thereby made in a plurality of steps with a predetermined step feed between each perforation operation. The device as claimed in the present invention also comprises a mobile pin die () away from but facing the feed path () for the propellant (), and containing at least on one row of pins for perforation of the propellant whereby each such row of pins comprises the number of pins () required to cover the complete width of the propellant segment across its direction of advance. Between each perforation operation the propellant is step fed by a step feed device () a distance equivalent to the distance between two desired perforations multiplied by the number of rows of pins arranged across the direction of advance of the propellant. Additionally, in the propellant as claimed in the present invention the distance between two burning surfaces of the propellant shall be equal to double the desired burning length ().

Propellant and a method and device for producing the same

The invention relates to a canard fin unit intended for guiding artillery projectiles () fired on ballistic trajectories, which comprises a number of identical canard fins, deployable from a first passive, retracted position into a second active position once the projectile () associated with the fin unit has been launched from the barrel from which it is intended to be fired, the canard fins () in the active position being individually controllable. The invention resides in the fact that each canard fin () is individually supported and controlled in its own swivel arm (), extending in the longitudinal direction of the projectile, which arm is in turn pivoted about its own swivel shaft () arranged transversely to the direction of flight of the projectile, the swivel arms () of all canard fins () being moved together from the retracted to the deployed position by one and the same operating element (), displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the projectile. In an especially preferred embodiment of the canard fin unit according to the invention the said fins () are each coupled to their respective control elements (),),) only when they reach their respective deployed positions.

Canard fin unit

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing rapid cross-ignition of preferably elongate powder or pyrotechnic charges, such as the propellant charges in impulse motors for correcting the trajectory of shells, rockets and missiles. The cross-ignition is produced by initiation of an elongate, extremely fast-burning or detonating primer charge with an extremely low explosive force which has been arranged in contact with at least part of the periphery of the propellant charge. The primer charge forms a tube whose cross-ignition effect is advantageously complemented by an inner, slower burning powder core which is combusted with deflagration.
