A blood treatment apparatus is disclosed. The example apparatus includes a blood treatment unit including a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet and a blood line. The apparatus also includes a fluid line including an upstream fluid line configured to receive electrically conductive treatment fluid from a fluid source and pass the electrically conductive treatment fluid to the fluid inlet of the blood treatment unit and a downstream fluid line connected to the fluid outlet of the blood treatment unit for delivering the used electrically conductive treatment fluid to a fluid sink. The apparatus further includes a flow divider arranged in the downstream fluid line and configured to separate the used electrically conductive treatment fluid in the downstream fluid line into to a first fluid section and a second fluid section, thereby electrically isolating the first and second fluid sections.

Systems and apparatuses for preparing a medical fluid are disclosed. In an example embodiment, a system is configured to initially control a dosing of a first concentrate, while not feeding a second concentrate, under feedback control via a concentration sensor to a first pump to feed the first concentrate. When a concentration has reached a preselected concentration level, a value for a feeding parameter for the first pump to feed the first concentrate is determined. Additionally, the system is configured to control the dosing of both the first and the second concentrates by switching the feedback control via the concentration sensor, from control of the first pump to control of a second pump to feed the second concentrate. During this time, the system controls the first pump to feed the first concentrate based on the determined value of the feeding parameter.

System and method for preparation of a medical fluid

The present invention concerns a dialysis acid precursor composition for use during preparation of a dialysis acid concentrate solution and for mixing with water, a sodium containing concentrate, and a bicarbonate containing concentrate into a ready-for-use dialysis solution. The dialysis acid precursor composition consists of powder components comprising glucose, at least one dry acid and at least one magnesium salt, and optionally potassium salt, and calcium salt. According to the invention the glucose and the at least one magnesium salt, are present as anhydrous components in the dialysis acid precursor composition.

A system and method for dosing at least two concentrates into water for on-line preparation of a medical fluid may include a main line for feeding of water, a first line with a first pump for feeding a first concentrate into the main line at a first mixing point, a second line with a second pump for feeding a second concentrate into the main line at a second mixing point, wherein a main concentration sensor measures the concentration in the main line downstream of the first and the second mixing points, wherein control of the dosing of the first concentrate is initially under feedback control from the main concentration sensor to the first pump, and when a value for a feeding parameter for the first pump is determined the feedback control is moved, so that the value for the feeding parameter is used to control the first pump.

A blood treatment apparatus adapted to preserve a blood treatment unit between blood treatment sessions. An ambulatory ultrafiltration device includes a blood filter that has a blood side or fluid communication with the vascular system of the subject, an ultrafiltrate side, and a semipermeable membrane disposed between the blood side and the ultrafiltrate side. The ambulatory ultrafiltration also includes a buffer vessel in fluid communication with the blood side of the blood filter, and a blood pump. The blood pump is controlled to alternate between a withdrawal phase and a return phase. In the withdrawal phase, blood is withdrawn on a blood path from the subject via the blood filter to the buffer vessel. In the return phase, blood is returned from the buffer vessel to the subject on the blood path. The blood filter is arranged to remove ultrafiltrate from the blood during at least one of the withdrawal and return phases.

A cassette is provided for installation in a dialysis monitor to pump a treatment solution through a dialyzer. The cassette is a unitary component with a hydraulic manifold () and a pneumatic manifold () integrated into a body (). The body () has connectors for connecting the hydraulic manifold () to the dialyzer and the pneumatic manifold () to a pneumatic pressure source. A set of solution pumps is integrated in the cassette, and each solution pump includes a pump cavity inside the body. The gas-liquid interface is formed directly between a gaseous substance and the treatment solution. A valve arrangement () is attached to the body () and operable to control admission of the gaseous substance and the treatment solution to the pump cavity () so as to reciprocate the gas-liquid interface and thereby pump the treatment solution through the hydraulic manifold (). The cassette is configured to pump the treatment solution without moving parts inside the body ().

A disposable for use in blood treatment including a blood treatment unit and two membrane pumps connected in parallel on one side of the blood treatment unit. The disposable is operable in a single-needle mode, in which the pumps generate a pulsatile flow of blood through the blood treatment unit, and in a double-needle mode, in which the pumps generate an essentially continuous flow of blood through the blood treatment unit. The package includes a compartment which is at least partially defined by two opposing wall portions, and a connector. In the transport/storage state, the compartment contains the powdery material in the form of at least two distinct sets of powdery material of different compositions, where the opposing wall portions are brought into engagement with the powdery material so as to immobilize the sets of powdery material. When used for preparation of the medical solution, a fluid is selectively admitted into the package via the connector so as to expand the compartment and enable mixing of the sets of powdery material with the solvent in the compartment.
