A buffer conveyor () for conveying conformable work products () includes a collapsible conveyor belt () having an infeed section (), a collapsible intermediate section () and an outfeed section (). The infeed section () may be driven at a non-continuous speed, and the outfeed section may also be driven at a uniform, or non-continuous, speed, but the average speed of both the infeed and outfeed sections is the same. The intermediate section of the conveyor is driven at a non-uniform speed that is slower than, but proportional to, the speed of the infeed section.

Conveying conformable products

A supporting installation () for supporting a number of turns, extending helically one upon the other in a stack, of an at least partly self-supporting conveyor belt () comprises at least one bearing element () for supporting the conveyor belt (), and a section () for supporting the bearing element (). The section () is extended in an endless loop along which the bearing element () is movable. At least one bearing element () is a roller bearing element ().

Supporting installation and bearing element therefor

An endless conveyor belt for an air conditioning plant, in which the conveyor belt extends helically along part of its length, comprising transverse rods () and lateral elements (). The conveyor belt is characterized in that the lateral elements () are connected in pairs to only two rods (), which are fixedly connected to said lateral elements () and form, with these, a link means (), and adjoining link means () are articulated to each other by a coupling element () arranged therebetween and connected to neighboring rods () of the adjoining link means ().

A food product is frozen at least partially by contacting a surface area ( ) of a chilled tray ( ). The tray ( ) consists of a plurality of elements ( ). The elements are juxtaposed to form the surface area ( ), they are further movable relative to each other for changing of the relative position of at least one element at a time, and finally they each occupy such a small surface in the surface area that the change of relative position is possible also after the food product part contacting the tray has been frozen.

A method and apparatus for freezing a surface layer of food product (6), placed on a non-foraminous conveyor belt (7) wherein cold air in the form of jets is blown towards the underside of the non-foraminous conveyor belt. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises, in addition to the non-foraminous conveyor belt (7), a plurality of stationary nozzles (14) for producing jets towards the underside of the non-foraminous conveyor belt in an area which extends over the width of the non-foraminous conveyor belt.

Method and apparatus for surface freezing

A conveyor belt comprises a plurality of interconnected elements (1, 2), which are successively arranged in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt. The elements are movable relative to each other at least about axes (3) which extend transversely of the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt and in parallel with the plane of the conveyor belt. The elements (1, 2) are alternatively of a first type and a second type. Each element (1) of the first type has the form of an inversely U-shaped beam extended transversely of the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt. This beam has flanges (6) and a web (7) interconnecting the flanges as well as a plurality of openings (8), spaced apart along the beam, in each border area between the web (7) and the respective flanges (6). Each element (2) of the second type has lugs (5), which are locked against complete withdrawal from the neighboring openings (8) in each of the two adjoining elements (1) of the first type.

An apparatus is provided that comprises a self-stacking spiral conveyor that traverses through a circulating atmosphere. The atmosphere is manipulated by one or more chambers having an open side adjacent to the perforated sides of the spiral conveyor. Additional control over the circulating atmosphere may be achieved by injection or ejection of gas into one or more chambers.

Device for carrying an endless conveyor belt

An improved endless conveyer belt is provided which can carry minute particles of conveyed product such as are found in packed bed applications, without limiting the ability of the conveyor belt to articulate into a spiraling conveyor stack. The perforations in the foraminous bottom member of the conveyor belt can be dimensioned according to the size of conveyed products. The number and placement of the perforations can be chosen to alter gas flow characteristics of the belt.

Conveyor belt for treatment of particulate solid material

An endless conveyor belt of a belt conveyor system in a plant for air treatment of food products follows a helical path section preceded by a straight path section and followed by another straight path section. In the preceding straight path section, the conveyor belt remains collapsed and in the following straight path section, the conveyor belt remains expanded. At the transition between the preceding straight path section and the helical path section, the conveyor belt is expanded along the outer lateral edge of the belt. At the transition between the helical path section and the following straight path section, the conveyor belt is expanded along the inner lateral edge of the belt.
