A digital imaging device such as a digital camera or a video camera may include the capability to store audio files. These audio files may be generated under user control when the user wishes to take a picture or capture video. The audio files may be played back as attention grabbers to attract the attention of the imaging subjects. After attracting the attention of the subjects by playing back a recorded audio sound, an image may be automatically captured.

Audio-based attention grabber for imaging devices

One aspect of the invention involves the output of a radio frequency (RF) identification tag by a writing instrument to indicate ink color or another characteristic associated with a line style parameter of the writing instrument. The RF identification tag is a wireless signal that uniquely identifies the line style parameters, such as physical-ink or virtual-ink color, produced when using the writing instrument. A writing tablet receives the RF identification tag and signals a computing device, responsible for displaying graphical representations made on the writing tablet, to display a portion of the graphical representation formed by that writing instrument with the characteristics of the line style parameters specified by the RF identification tag.

Using RF identification tags in writing instruments as a means for line style differentiation

One aspect of the invention involves a writing tablet comprising a housing having a writing surface and internal logic placed within the housing and situated below the writing surface. The internal logic includes imaging sensor, a light source and a controller. The imaging sensor is adapted to capture a location and orientation of each line segment forming a graphic image. The light source is adapted to produce a light beam adjusted for display on the writing surface. The controller is adapted to control performance of an event upon the light beam crossing a line segment of the graphic image.

Audible and visual effects as a result of adaptive tablet scanning

One aspect of the invention relates to an electronic writing device for interactive teaching of users to reproduce a selected graphical representation. The electronic writing device comprises a casing, a screen and internal logic placed within the casing. The internal logic controls adjustment of a light beam directed at a bottom surface of the screen to temporarily illuminate one or more light segments, visible on a top surface of the screen, in efforts to guide a user in writing the graphical representation.

Method and apparatus for adaptive handwriting teaching system

A computer microscope system having a housing, imager circuit including an imaging device and support circuits, and optical unit is coupled to a computer system running a microscope control program to provide convenient imaging of objects at one or more magnification levels. The microscope control program provides control and user interface between the microscope, computer hardware and the user, thus allowing for easy Manipulation of the microscope (and the images generated) by the user.
