An apparatusfor use oncomprising a vehicle adapted to move acrossa surface and responsive to an operator. A head assemblyconnected to a support on the vehicleis adapted to carry a device for engaging the surface. An actuatoron the vehicleraises and lowers thehead assemblysupportrelative to the surface. A position control responsive to operator input indicates aheadpositionof the device relative to the surface or range of head positionsof thedevicehead assemblyrelative to thesurfacesupport.The head position or the range of head positions indicates a distance or range of distances, respectively, between the device and the surface.A controller responsive to the position control selectively actuates the actuator or maintain thedevicehead assemblyin theheadpositionor within the range of head positions asindicated by the position control. As a result, a repeatable positionor range of positionsof thebrushheadassemblyis obtained, the relative engagement between the head assembly and surface is controlled and the treatment of the surface by the head assembly is controlled. Position control may be used in combination with torque control of motors driving brushes for engaging the surface. Position control may also be used in combination with a pressure control measuring the pressurebetweenofthebrushheadandassembly onthe surface.

Brush head positioning system

Floor polishing machines include a motor housing, mounted vertically above the base of the machine that contains and protects the motor of the machine. A drip cover that may have a convex shape is mounted on the top of the motor housing and offset from the housing to provide a space between the housing and the cover through which air can flow to cool the motor during operation of the polishing machine. The drip cover has a cylindrical skirt that extends axially from the drip cover to surround the upper portion of the motor housing. Formed concentrically with the skirt, on the inner surface of the drip cover is a cup sized to accept, hold and protect the upper bearing of the motor. The drip cover further includes a downwardly facing electrical inlet or plug attached to the inner surface of the cover within the cylindrical skirt.

Drip cover for floor polishing machine

An apparatus for cleaning floors which recycles waste heat and water to provide greater efficiency. An internal combustion engine is used to power the apparatus. Heat from the engine's lubricant is used to heat the wash solution applied to the floor. Heat from the engine's cooling air, radiator, and catalytic converter is used to dry the cleaned floor. A drying brush is also used to accelerate drying. Used rinse water is recycled for use as wash solution. Exhaust from the engine is used to preheat the floor to be cleaned. The engine may be used to propel the apparatus.

Floor cleaning system

An apparatus for use on a surface and responsive to an operator. A head assembly is adapted to carry a device for engaging the surface. An actuator raises and lowers the head assembly relative to the surface. A position control responsive to operator input indicates a head position of the device relative to the surface or range of head positions of the device relative to the surface. The head position or the range of head positions indicates a distance or range of distances, respectively, between the device and the surface. A controller responsive to the position control selectively actuates the actuator to maintain the device in the head position or within the range of head positions as indicated by the position control. As a result, a repeatable position or range of positions of the brush head is obtained, the relative engagement between the head assembly and surface is controlled and the treatment of the surface by the head assembly is controlled. Position control may be used in combination with torque control of motors driving brushes for engaging the surface. Position control may also be used in combination with a pressure control measuring the pressure between the brush head and the surface.

A system for monitoring carbon monoxide in an environment which includes an apparatus emitting carbon monoxide, such as an internal combustion engine. A carbon monoxide sensor measures a concentration of carbon monoxide in the environment and provides an electrical signal to a processor that is representative of the measured concentration of carbon monoxide. The processor determines the concentration of carbon monoxide corresponding to the electrical signal, provides an output signal at or above predetermined carbon monoxide concentration thresholds, calculates an estimated carboxyhemoglobin level for the operator corresponding to the carbon monoxide concentrations calculated over time, and provides an output signal at or above predetermined carboxyhemoglobin thresholds. The signals are then received by one or more devices which provide textual, visual, and/or audible warnings indicating that environmental concentrations of carbon monoxide have caused a predetermined warning threshold to be met or exceeded. The signals may also be received by a device which shuts down the carbon monoxide generating apparatus.

A solenoid valve and timing module kit for use with a floor treating apparatus. The apparatus includes a reservoir for holding a cleaning solution, a flow control valve, a head assembly adapted to carry a floor treating device, a fluid flow line for delivering the liquid supply to a supply point adjacent to the floor treating device, an operator control, and a timing module for continuously opening and closing the flow control valve in response to the operator control.

A solenoid valve and timing module for use with a floor treating apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a reservoir for holding a cleaning solution, a flow control valve, a head assembly adapted to carry a floor treating device, a fluid flow line for delivering the liquid supply to a supply point adjacent to the floor treating device, an operator control, and a timing module for continuously opening and closing the flow control valve in response to the operator control.

Solenoid valve and timing module for a floor treating apparatus

An extraction machine of this invention comprises a main housing. A vacuum pump in the main housing operates to create a vacuum to extract liquid from the surface. A motor in the main housing drives the vacuum pump, the vacuum pump having an exhaust. An exhaust duct conducts exhaust air from the exhaust of the vacuum pump to an opening in the main housing for exhaust to the environment. A constriction in the exhaust duct reduces the pressure of exhaust air flowing through the exhaust duct from a first pressure upstream from the constriction to a second lower pressure in a low pressure zone adjacent the constriction. A compartment has an inlet for entry of ambient air into the compartment and an outlet for exit of air from the compartment. A second motor is located within the compartment. A cooling duct has an inlet communicating with the outlet of the compartment and an outlet communicating with the low pressure zone in the exhaust duct. The second lower pressure of the exhaust air in the low pressure zone is less than ambient pressure thereby to cause a flow of cooling ambient air into the compartment, through the compartment and into the cooling duct, and then into the exhaust duct for exhaust out of the main housing.

Liquid extraction machine

An indicator junction module for connecting the electrical components of a pressure washer for dispensing a cleaning fluid under pressure. The indicator junction module includes terminal connectors for receiving leads from the components and indicator circuits corresponding to the components. At least one of the indicator circuits has one of its terminals electrically connected to an indicator device and the other of its terminals electrically connected to another indicator circuit. Each indicator device provides a visual indication of a condition of the corresponding component. The indicator junction module also includes an enclosure for enclosing the indicator circuits wherein the indicator devices are visible from outside the enclosure to an operator of the pressure washer and a portion of each terminal connector is external to the enclosure. Each terminal connector is electrically connected to one of the indicator circuit terminals so that the components connected to the terminal connectors are electrically connected to each other via the indicator circuits. Other features are also disclosed including a method of manufacturing the pressure washer indicator module.
