A wheel suspension system and a method for controlling the system. The wheel suspension system includes a first axle provided with wheels and a second axle provided with wheels. The first axle is connected to a first driveshaft portion via a first differentialand the second axle is connected to a second driveshaft portion via a second differential. The system further includes angular speed sensors designed to detect the rotational speed of the axles, and/or the rotational speed of the respective wheels. The angular speed sensors are connected to an electronic control unit (ECU) which is designed to calculate a difference between the angular speed of the first and second axles, and/or a difference between the angular speed of the respective wheels by the use of input data from the angular speed sensors. The speed difference can be used as an indication of different wheel radius of the wheels. The system includes a coupling, e.g. a dog clutch arrangement, arranged in the driveshaft and positioned between the first and second drive shaft portions for changing the first and second drive shaft portions between being drivingly connected and disconnected.

Method and device for tandem- or multiple-axle drive for a vehicle

A heavy road vehicle provided with a hybrid propulsion system includes a mechanical propulsion system and a hydraulic propulsion system. The mechanical propulsion system is connected to at least one traction wheel which is powered by an internal combustion engine via a mechanical drive train and a gearbox. The hydraulic propulsion system is connected to at least one other traction wheel including a hydraulic motor powered by a hydraulic pump unit. The hybrid propulsion unit further includes a control unit for at least controlling the hybrid propulsion unit, optionally also controlling the mechanical propulsion system. The hydraulic propulsion system further includes a pressure accumulator which is connected to the hydraulic motor in order to maintain a pressure in the hydraulic motor even if the hydraulic pump unit is switched off.

In a method for controlling a traction system for a heavy road vehicle, the system includes a first mechanical propulsion system, a second hydraulic propulsion system, and a control unit. The method includes measuring a first parameter value, indicative of the rolling radius of a first traction wheel, measuring a second parameter value, indicative of the rolling radius of a second traction wheel, and the control unit using the first and second parameter values for determining a present relation between the rolling radii of the first and second traction wheels. The control unit provides an output signal based on the present relation to optimize the traction applied to the second traction wheel. Traction system and a method for controlling said traction system

A vehicle traction system includes a first traction wheel forming part of a first propulsion system including a mechanical drive train, a second traction wheel forming part of a second propulsion system including a hydraulic pump for powering a hydraulic motor, one sensor indicating a take-off condition, and a control unit for controlling the second propulsion unit. The control unit is programmed to automatically detect a take-off condition by the sensor and send an input to the control unit that a take-off condition is fulfilled, automatically provide a traction force from the second propulsion system in response to the indication that there is a take-off condition of the vehicle present and an indication that a traction is or will be provided by the first traction system, and automatically control the second propulsion unit by the control unit in dependence of the manually controlled torque from the first propulsion unit.

A system and a method for operating an engine of a vehicle are provided wherein a transmission coupled to the engine has a freewheeling mode. The engine is switched off by setting the transmission into the freewheeling mode and interrupting fuel supply to the engine in the freewheeling mode depending on one or more operating conditions of the vehicle. A gear in the transmission is selected proactively depending on one or more operating actions of the vehicle anticipated to be required on or within a predefined time limit after restart of the engine.
