The present invention relates to systems and methods for selectively pre-registering a data path for a mobile station. In an embodiment, a serving base station receives a mobile-originated handoff-request message from a mobile station, wherein the mobile-originated handoff-request message identifies one or more target base stations. The serving base station then responsively determines whether to instruct each respective target base station to pre-register a data path for the mobile station. The serving base station then sends a respective serving-to-target handoff-request message to each identified target base station, indicating whether the serving base station is instructing that target base station to pre-register a data path for the mobile station.

Systems and methods for selectively pre-registering data paths for mobile stations

A method and system are provided for centralizing services subscribed to by customers of a service provider for detecting attacks at the customer-end of a communications network. A signal diverter is installed in a signal path carrying inbound communication signals common to subscribed customers and a portion of the collective inbound signals for each customer is diverted to a detection apparatus. Finally, based on parameters for each subscribed customer, a determination is made as to if a subscribed customer is experiencing an attack.

Shared tap DOS-attack protection

The present invention relates to systems and methods for establishing a data-path between a mobile station and a home access service network gateway ('ASN-GW'). During the authentication process, a visited ASN-GW receives a first message that identifies a home ASN-GW associated with the mobile station. After the mobile station has been authenticated, the visited ASN-GW receives a first data-path request message from a base station serving the mobile station, requesting a path for data-packet communication for the mobile station that extends between base station and the visited ASN-GW. The visited ASN-GW responsively uses the received identification to send a second data-path request message to the home ASN-GW which requests a path for data-packet communication that extends between the base station and the home ASN-GW. Once the data-path has been established, the home ASN-GW may monitor and/or place restrictions on the data being transmitted to and from the mobile stations.

Systems and method for establishing a data-path between a mobile station and a home access service network gateway

A method and system are provided for preventing network service shutdowns resulting from denial of service (DOS) attacks. First, parameters are monitored corresponding to network elements carrying communication signal traffic in a communications network, and, based on the parameters, if a DOS attack is indicated, performing the following for each instance of communication signal traffic: accessing data structures for data relating to protected communication signal traffic, and, based on the data, determining if the communication signal traffic is designated as protected. Finally; based on the determination, cleaning and forwarding each protected communication signal to its respective destination.
