The invention relates to a wall-mountable hand dryer of the type which uses an air-knife to wipe the water from a user's hand. In accordance with the invention, the hand dryer is configured to have a maximum depth, front-to-back, of less than 150 mm when it is surface-mounted on&#x2014;rather than recessed within&#x2014;the wall. The dryer has a projecting part which projects outwardly either from the wall or from a rear part of the dryer, and the air-knife is directed downwardly onto the user's hand as it is passed lengthwise underneath the projecting part of the dryer. The air knife is discharged through one or more discharge apertures, and these discharge apertures are positioned towards the front of the projecting part so that they are spaced at least 75 mm from the wall or, as the case may be, the rear part of the dryer.

Hand dryer

The invention relates to a wall-mountable hand dryer of the type which uses an air-knife to wipe the water from a user's hand. In accordance with the invention, the hand dryer is configured to have a maximum depth, front-to-back, of less than 150 mm when it is surface-mounted on&#x2014;not recessed within&#x2014;the wall. The air-knife is discharged downwardly through one or more discharge apertures on the dryer. These discharge apertures are configured so that the air-knife is discharged in front of the wall or a rear part of the dryer, and is discharged forwards towards the user at a downward angle. The downward angle of the air-knife is such that the air-knife projects to a distance of at least 75 mm in front of the wall or, as the case may be, in front of the rear part of the dryer.

The invention relates to a hand dryer for drying a user's hands by means of an airflow discharged through an air outlet on the hand dryer. The airflow is generated by a motor-driven fan unit. The hand dryer comprises a plurality of air intakes, the air intakes being connected to the fan unit to form a plurality of parallel air-intake paths. Each air intake path is provided with a separate air-filter. The air-filters may be replaceable for individual replacement as required.

A wall-mountable hand dryer for drying one side of a user's hands at a time, the dryer having two nozzle sections&#x2014;one for each hand&#x2014;which nozzle sections are positioned towards the front of the dryer so that they are spaced away from the wall in use, the nozzle sections each extending to span the width of a user's open hand and being arranged for directing drying air down onto the front or back of said hand as it is inserted lengthwise underneath the nozzle sections from the front of the dryer, wherein the dryer comprises a downwardly pitched guide part positioned behind each nozzle section for guiding the pitch of the user's hands underneath the nozzle sections.

A hand dryer having a left-hand nozzle section which, in normal use, is used to dry a user's left hand and a right-hand nozzle section which, in normal use, is used separately to dry the user's right hand, the left-hand nozzle section being arranged to emit drying air along a first direction&#x2014;outwardly to the left of the dryer&#x2014;and the right-hand nozzle section being arranged to emit drying air in a second direction&#x2014;outwardly to the right of the dryer&#x2014;said first and second directions having a downward and/or forward component.

Disclosed is a hair care appliance comprising a body having a duct which may at least partially define a fluid flow path through the body, an outer wall extending about the duct and a side wall extending between the duct and the outer wall, wherein a control switch is provided on the side wall and wherein the outer wall, side wall and the duct are all external walls of the appliance. The body has an inlet end and an outlet end and the side wall is at the inlet end. The side wall may at least partially define a fluid inlet into the fluid flow path. The duct may be recessed within the outer wall at the inlet end. A handle may be provided and may have a second control switch which may be located on the handle adjacent to the inlet end of the body.

Hand held appliance

Disclosed is a hair care appliance comprising a body comprising an outer wall, and a handle comprising an outer wall and a wall disposed within the outer wall wherein, the outer wall of the body and the wall of the handle are formed as a single unit. The outer wall may extend about the wall and partially along the wall. The wall may comprise an access aperture and a hatch for closing the access aperture which the outer wall may extend over. The outer wall may extend about the wall for substantially the whole length of the wall. The handle may comprise a primary fluid inlet disposed at and/or near the distal end of the handle from the body which may comprise at least one aperture extending around and along the outer wall. Also disclosed is a hand held appliance.

A wall-mountable hand dryer arranged for drying one side of a user's hands at a time. The dryer has two nozzle sections&#x2014;one for each hand&#x2014;which nozzle sections are positioned towards the front of the dryer so that they are spaced away from the wall in use. The nozzle sections each extend to span the width of a user's open hand and are arranged for directing drying air down onto the front or back of said hand as it is inserted lengthwise underneath the nozzle sections from the front of the dryer. The left-hand nozzle section is banked to the right and the right-hand nozzle section is banked to the left such that the user may bank his hands accordingly in use&#x2014;this makes the drying action comfortable for the user.

A method of manufacturing a nozzle part for a hand dryer. The nozzle part has a nozzle body and an air outlet aperture in the nozzle body, and the method includes molding the nozzle body from plastic as a single part and then post-machining the air outlet aperture in the molded plastic nozzle body.

Developments in or relating to a hand dryer

A surface treating appliance includes a surface treating head, a hose, and a main body including a fan unit for generating a flow of fluid, and a rotary changeover valve including a valve member which is selectively rotatable between a first position allowing fluid flow between the hose and the fan unit, and a second position allowing fluid flow between the surface treating head and the fan unit, the valve member comprising a hub having an internal surface shaped to receive a boss about which the valve member is selectively rotatable. To facilitate the breaking of seals by valve member and other parts of the appliance as the valve member moves away from one of its first and second positions, the external surface of the boss and the internal surface of the hub each has a profile generally in the form of a triangular prism, the profile of the external surface of the boss tapering towards the valve member. As a result, the valve member is forced to move along the longitudinal axis of the boss as it is rotated thereabout.

Surface treating appliance

An attachment for a vacuum cleaning appliance, the attachment including a head divided into a first rotatable member and a second rotatable member, each rotatable member comprising means for sweeping dirt from a surface, a conduit connectable to a vacuum cleaning appliance for conveying an air flow from the head towards the appliance, a drive mechanism for rotating the head about a first axis while simultaneously rotating the first rotatable member about a second axis and the second rotatable member about a third axis, each of the second axis and the third axis being angled to the first axis, and means for dislodging dirt from the sweeping means with rotation of the head about the first axis so that dislodged dirt may become entrained within the air flow.

Attachment for a vacuum cleaning appliance

A surface treating appliance includes a surface treating head, a hose and a main body including a fan unit for generating a flow of fluid and a rotary changeover valve. The changeover valve includes a valve body having a first section for receiving fluid flow from the surface treating head, a second section for receiving fluid flow from the hose, and third section for conveying fluid flow towards the fan unit; and a valve member which is selectively moveable between a first position which connects the second section to the third section, and a second position which connects the first section to the third section. To minimize the number of components of the main body, the valve body forms part of a casing for the fan unit.
