Deuterium-enriched 4-hydroxy-5-methoxy-N,1-dimethyl-2-oxo-N-[(4-trifluoromethyl) -phenyl]-1,2-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxamide, having a deuterium enrichment in the amide-N methyl group of at least 70%; or a salt thereof with a pharmaceutically acceptable organic or inorganic cation; and a method of preparing said compounds. The compounds are useful in therapy, e.g. for the treatment of a malignant hyperproliferative disorder or an autoimmune disease.

The disclosure relates to a method of initiating a crystal growth prior to filtering off, from the mother liquor in which they were produced, of such crystalline explosives of the type hexogen and octogen produced by the so-called Bachmann process or variations of this process. According to the invention, the mother liquor is, after the end of the chemical reaction proper, subjected to a pressure-heat treatment which initiates the partial dissolution of the crystalline explosives obtained in the process, giving rise, after cooling of the mother liquor, to larger crystals which may more readily be filtered off. According to a further improvement of the invention a relatively pure octogen may be extracted from the mother liquor by way of a thermo-filtering of said liquor at a temperature of 60.degree.-110.degree. C.

Method in the production of crystalline explosives

The disclosure relates to an explosive charge intended for the explosive jointing of, primarily, large-diameter pipes, such as pipeline pipes. The charge according to the invention is intended to be delivered as a unit ready to be applied immediately on site in the pipe. The only item which is not intended to be included is the detonator which is mounted in place immediately prior to blowing the charge. The charge includes, apart from explosive, also a polymer binder of a more closely defined type and gas blisters preferably in the form of microspheres of glass or plastic and metal or metal oxide powder. The scope of the invention embraces the general configuration of the charge and all components included therein.

The disclosure relates to a method for producing charges for explosive jointing of large-diameter pipes such as pipelines. According to the invention, such charges are formed in that a strip-shaped flat explosive is wound and joined together to form a circular ring of even thickness consisting of a plurality of closely abutting layers.

Explosive charges

The present invention relates to a method for the recrystallization of the high explosives HMX and RDX. According to the invention, the explosive is dissolved in a low molecular weight, liquid (at room temperature) lactone, after which the degree of saturation of the solution obtained, is changed by either lowering the temperature or by diluting with water. This method produces, depending on the crystallization method chosen, .beta.-HMX crystals or RDX crystals of either 50-1500 .mu.m or 5-50 .mu.m median particle diameter respectively.

Silica aerogel in the form of a substantially crack-free, preferably transparent block is described, together with a method for the preparation of such aerogel and use thereof in solar panels. The preparation is effected by means of hydrolysis of a tetraalkoxysilane, preferably tetramethoxysilane, in an alcohol, preferably methanol, in the presence of a catalyst, preferably ammonia, for the formation of an alcogel which is aged for approximately 10 days and washed with alcohol for removing water. The alcogel is thereafter treated in an autoclave by means of a temperature increase to above the critical point of the alcohol, isothermic pressure drop by means of the release of alcohol vapor, and temperature drop. The temperature increase, the pressure drop and the temperature drop take place at such low mean rates that the aerogel does not crack. To this end, a total treatment time in the autoclave of at least 24 hours is required. After the autoclave treatment, a heat treatment at 500.degree. to 750.degree. C. is possibly carried out for further improving the transparency of the aerogel.

Silica aerogel

Silica aerogel in the form of a substantially crack-free, preferably transparent block is described, together with a method for the preparation of such aerogel and use thereof in solar panels. The preparation is effected by means of hydrolysis of a tetraalkoxysilane, preferably tetramethoxysilane, in an alcohol, preferably methanol, in the presence of a catalyst, preferably ammonia, for the formation of an alcogel which is aged for approximately 10 days and washed with alcohol for removing water.
