A breath test system is provided comprising a sensor unit configured to sense the presence or concentration of a volatile substance present in air flowing through a predefined inlet area, and generate a signal corresponding to the concentration of said substance. Also provided is an apparatus configured to detect the presence of a person in the vicinity of said input area, and registering said presence, and configured to respond by delivering an output. This apparatus includes a unit configured to call for immediate attention of said person, and upon registration of the presence of said person, provide instructions to said person to direct an expiratory air flow towards said inlet area. An analyzer to determine breath substance concentration of said person is also provided, the determination based on said signal corresponding to the substance concentration.

Breath test system

The invention relates to a system for breath test of a person. It includes a sensor unit configured to sense the presence/concentration of a volatile substance, e.g. alcohol, present in air flowing through a predefined inlet area and generating a signal corresponding to the concentration of said substance. An analyzer determines the concentration of said substance in the breath of said person. It comprises means for the temporary interruption of said air flow at a point in time coinciding with the detection of a breath. It also relates to a method comprising interrupting the flow through said predefined area for a predetermined period of time, and detecting the concentration of said substance during said interruption.

Highly accurate breath test system

The invention relates to a sensor and guide wire assembly () for intravascular measurements of physiological variables in a living body, comprising a core wire (), a first coil (), a jacket (), and a second coil (). The jacket () comprises a first end portion (), which is crimped onto the core wire () and over which a portion of the first coil () is threaded, and a second end portion (), which is crimped onto the core wire () and over which a portion of the second coil () is threaded.

Sensor and guide wire assembly

A multifunctional breath analyzer includes a receptor unit for receiving a breath sample from a test subject, a sensing unit providing a signal corresponding to the concentration of at least one volatile substance within the sample, elements for providing a signal indicative of the dilution of the breath sample, and an analyzing unit/processing unit for the identification and quantification of the volatile substance of the breath sample. The signal processing unit is configured to perform at least two different calculations for the quantification, and the signal processing unit is also configured to automatically display the result of a selected calculation, the selection being based on the signal indicating dilution.

Multifunctional breath analyzer

A transmitter unit with an attachable energy source is provided for a sensor guidewire. The transmitter unit is adapted to be connected to a proximal end of a sensor guidewire provided, at its distal end, with a sensor to measure a physiological parameter inside a patient. In some embodiments, the transmitter unit is adapted to wirelessly communicate by a communication signal with a communication unit, arranged in connection with an external device, in order to transfer measured physiological data to the external device. The attachable energy source can be a battery pack or battery holder provided with connecting electrical connecting surfaces. Preferably, the connection is protected from penetrating fluids by a protective seal.

Removable energy source for sensor guidewire

A pressure sensor wire assembly measures pressure inside a body of a patient. The assembly comprises a pressure sensor element for measuring pressure and to generate a pressure sensor signal representative of the pressure, and a pressure sensor wire having the pressure sensor element at its distal portion, and adapted to be inserted into the body in order to position the sensor element within the body. A sensor signal adapting circuitry is an integrated part of the assembly, wherein the pressure sensor signal is applied to the adapting circuitry which is adapted to automatically generate an output pressure signal, related to the sensor signal, in a standardized format such that the measured pressure is retrievable by an external physiology monitor. The assembly further comprises an external pressure sensor to measure the pressure outside the patient's body and to generate external pressure values in dependence thereto.

Pressure wire assembly

There is a sensor guide wire () for intravascular measurements of physiological variables in a living body. The sensor guide wire () comprises at least two elongate sections, a first tubular elongate section () being tubular in the longitudinal direction of the sensor guide wire (), and a second elongate section () that is adapted to be inserted a predetermined distance () into said first tubular section (), a sensor element () provided in the distal part of said sensor guide wire (), for measuring the physiological variable and to generate a sensor signal in response to said variable, at least one signal transmitting cable connected to the sensor element () to transmit sensor signals to a male connector provided in the proximal part of said sensor guide wire (). The tubular section () is provided with at least one through-going opening () in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the guide wire () and positioned a second predetermined distance () from one end of the tubular section (), wherein the guide wire () comprises a locking member () to be fitted into the opening () in order to join the sections () together when the second elongate section () is inserted into the tubular section ().

Joining of sensor guide wire

A transmitter unit with a detachable energy source is provided for a sensor guidewire. The transmitter unit is adapted to be connected to a proximal end of a sensor guidewire provided, at its distal end, with a sensor to measure a physiological parameter inside a patient. In some embodiments, the transmitter unit is adapted to wirelessly communicate by a communication signal with a communication unit, arranged in connection with an external device, in order to transfer measured physiological data to the external device. Method of making a guide wire based assembly and reusing an energy source

A sensor and guide wire assembly () for intravascular measurements of a physiological variable in a living body includes a sensor element () mounted at a distal sensor portion () of a guide wire (), wherein the sensor portion exhibits a maximal cross-sectional dimension which is larger than a maximal cross-sectional dimension of guide wire portions () located proximally of the sensor portion.

A femoral compression device () for compressive bearing against the femoral artery of a patient, comprising a base plate (), an inflatable air cushion (), and an electronic manometer () connected to the inflatable air cushion for measurement of the current pressure difference between the pressure prevailing inside the inflatable air cushion and the ambient air pressure. The femoral compression device can further comprise a mechanical device () which prevents an air opening leading to the inflatable air cushion from being closed before the manometer is zeroed. In another embodiment, an electronic manometer is provided such that a current characteristic of an electric signal representing the current pressure difference can be compared with a corresponding characteristic which was obtained at zero pressure difference and which was stored in the electronic manometer, wherein the manometer cannot be zeroed as long as the current characteristic deviates more than a predetermined amount from the stored characteristic.

A sensor and insertion assemblyis used for intravascular measurement of pressure in a living body. The assembly includes, a sensor chiphaving a substrate bodywith a recess covered by a pressure sensitive filmthereby forming a cavity. A piezoelectric element, preferably in the form of a piezoelectric film, is arranged in connection with the pressure sensitive film, and energy is applied to the piezoelectric element such that acoustic waves are generated in the element. The piezoelectric element is arranged to generate an output signal, representing the pressure at the film, in dependence on the measured properties of the acoustic waves related to the deflection of the pressure sensitive film.
