The invention relates to a method for configuring, on a control unit, operating parameters of a plurality of devices of a refrigeration system. A user selects on the control unit, among the plurality of devices of the refrigeration system, a first device to configure. Information of valid configurable operating parameters of the first device is provided on the control unit. The user selects at least one of the valid configurable operating parameters of the first device, thereby configuring the first device. Information stored about operating parameters of other devices of the refrigeration system, based on the configuration of the first device, is then provided on the control unit. Finally, the user confirms, on the control unit, one or more operating parameters of one or more of the other devices, thereby configuring the one or more other devices. The invention also relates to a control unit and a refrigeration system.

Method for configuring a refrigeration system

The invention relates to a valve assembly for a refrigeration plant of the kind used for controlling the flow of refrigerant from the evaporator to the compressor. The closure member for the valve unit is controlled directly or indirectly by a movable wall of an expansible chamber filled with a refrigerant medium having vapor and liquid phases. The pressure exerted by the vapor phase of the medium provides a bias in a valve opening direction which is directly related to the temperature of the liquid phase and is opposed by a spring bias in the valve closing direction. A heat transfer element such as a heating resistor in the liquid phase is heated or allowed to cool in a controlled manner by an external control unit. A temperature responsive sensor element in the liquid phase of the medium is part of a feedback system for the control unit which allows a selected temperature to be maintained in the chamber which results in a desired constant pressure in a valve opening direction to be maintained in a chamber. A control unit has an evaporator parameter input branch and a second input branch for the feedback temperature sensing element. The control unit has an output for heating the heating resistor in the expansible chamber and a summating section for varying the relative effects of the input branches on the output.

Valve for liquid injection into a refrigerant evaporator

Thermostatic expansion valve for refrigeration plants

The invention relates to a thermostatic valve assembly for refrigeration systems. The valve assembly is between the condenser and the evaporator and includes two valve units in series. The two valve units are shown integrated in one casing but could be provided with individual casings. The second valve unit has the conventional thermostatic function while the first valve unit functions to isolate the second valve unit from the effects of varying condenser pressures which go from high in the winter to low in the summer. In a pressure chamber between the two valve units a mean pressure is maintained which is between the condenser and evaporator pressures. The first valve unit is controlled by a balancing between opening forces created by evaporator pressure and a differential spring and a closing force created by the mean pressure in the mean pressure chamber. In this way the mean pressure is constantly maintained larger than the evaporator pressure by a predetermined difference and the effects of a varying condenser pressure are substantially minimized.

Valve arrangement for refrigeration plants

The invention relates to a thermostatic expansion valve assembly for a refrigeration installation of the type having condenser and evaporator units. The valve assembly controls the flow of refrigerant between the condenser and the evaporator and has a conventional operating unit which is dependent upon the superheat temperature of the evaporator. Condenser pressure for summer operation is on the order of being five to ten times greater than for winter operation and this represents a greater flow quantity. Compensation for this variance in condenser pressure is provided by a seat and closure member design in which the valve is caused to open at a slower rate than any increase in the condenser pressure. This is done by equipping the closure and valve seat with a piston and cylinder construction which defines an expansible chamber which has fluid communication with the condenser inlet port. An increase in condenser pressure causes expansion of the expansible chamber which in turn effects a closing force on the valve parts.

Thermostatic expansion valve for refrigeration installations

The invention relates to a thermostatic expansion valve assembly for refrigeration units. Condenser pressures are normally five to ten times greater in the summer than in the winter. In the assembly hereof the characterostic adjustment curve is made less dependent on the condenser pressure by reason of having two flow restricting zones in series in which one of the zones has a variable rate closing mode of operation which restricts flow at a constantly increasing rate as the condenser pressure rises.
