Example weather barrier apparatus are disclosed herein. An example weather barrier apparatus includes a support structure having a first end and a second end spaced from the first end, where the first end is to couple to a wall and the second end is movable relative to the first end. A seal is pivotally coupled to the second end of the support structure to define a pivot axis. The seal has a first sealing portion and a second sealing portion spaced from the first sealing portion. The first sealing portion is to engage a rear edge of a vehicle and the second sealing portion is to engage a surface of the vehicle spaced from the rear edge of the vehicle when the vehicle is in engagement with the seal.

Vehicle-actuated weather barrier apparatus

Example weather barrier apparatus are disclosed herein. An example weather barrier apparatus includes a mount to couple to a wall of a loading dock and a seal coupled to the mount. The seal includes an outer flexible sheet having a first end and a second end. The seal includes an inner flexible sheet having a third end and a fourth end. The third end of the inner flexible sheet couples to the first end of the outer flexible sheet and the fourth end of the inner flexible sheet couples to the second end of the outer flexible sheet. The inner flexible sheet provides an edge seal and a surface seal. The edge seal engages a rearward facing edge of a vehicle and the surface seal engages surface panel of the vehicle when the vehicle is in engagement with the seal. A guide movably couples the outer flexible sheet and the inner flexible sheet. The guide is positioned between the respective ends of the inner and outer flexible sheets. The guide spaces apart a portion of the inner flexible sheet from a portion of the outer flexible sheet. The inner flexible sheet, the outer flexible sheet and the guide are to move between a first position and a second position in response to a force imparted to the weather barrier by the vehicle when the vehicle is in engagement with the inner flexible sheet to enable at least one of the edge seal to conform to a shape of the rearward facing edge of the vehicle or the surface seal to conform to a shape of the surface panel of the vehicle.

Example weather barrier apparatus are disclosed herein. An example weather barrier apparatus includes a curtain having a plurality of compressible tubes positioned between a first end of the curtain and a second end of the curtain. The compressible tubes move between a collapsed position when the curtain is in a relaxed condition and an expanded position when the curtain is a taut condition.

Example weather barrier apparatus are disclosed herein. An example weather barrier apparatus disclosed herein include rear edge seals to sealingly engage a rearward facing edge of a vehicle parked at a loading dock. In some examples, the rear edge seal is part of a pivotal upper or side seal member that also includes a surface seal. The surface seal is spaced apart from the edge seal and is to sealingly engage a side or upper surface of the vehicle. In some examples, the vehicle's side surface is the outward facing surface of the vehicle's swung-open door. In some examples, the vehicle backing against the edge seal is what deploys the side seal. Some example weather barrier apparatus disclosed herein include an upper seal member and two side seal members, where vehicle-activated movement of the upper seal and side seal members are coordinated to seek and seal against rear corners of a cargo opening of the vehicle. In some examples, one or more seal members lengthen in response to the size and position of the vehicle.

Door elements are disclosed herein. An example door element includes a first flexible door movably coupled relative to a wall between at least a first closed position to cover a first portion of a doorway, a first open position to enable a vehicle to access to the doorway, and an intermediate position to engage a first surface of the vehicle when the vehicle is adjacent the doorway. The door element also includes a second flexible door movably coupled relative to the wall between at least a second closed position to cover a second portion of the doorway, a second open position to enable the vehicle to access the second portion of the doorway, and a second intermediate position to engage a second surface of the vehicle when the vehicle is positioned adjacent the door opening, where the first and second flexible doors each deform to pivot relative to the wall.

Door elements having FinRay structures are described herein. An example door element described herein is movable between a closed position in which the element extends across a doorway to at least partially block the doorway, and an open position where at least a portion of the element moves to a non-blocking position relative to the doorway. The door element includes a first flexible side element to transmit tensile forces and has a proximal end and a distal end. The door element includes a second flexible side element to resist compressive forces and has a proximal end and a distal end. The first and second side elements are coupled to each other at their distal ends. The element includes a plurality of connecting ribs flexibly coupled to the first and second side elements to transmit tensile forces between the first and second side elements. An actuator applies a longitudinal tensile force to the proximal end of the first side element, where the resulting deformation of the second side element is transmitted to the first side element by the connecting ribs in movement of the door element to the open position.

A seating element is provided, comprising a skeleton having a skin and a plurality of ribs pivotably connected with said skin. The skin forms a substantially flexible support area, which is adapted to support a seating force exerted by a body, e.g. a human sitting or lying on the seating element. The skeleton is configured in such a way that it cooperates to at least partially deform the support area in a direction opposite to the direction of the seating force as a result of the seating force. As a result a comfortable and ergonomic seating posture is obtained. The seating element with skeleton automatically counteracts all movements of the body, thus supporting the body in an optimum way.
