Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for managing attachment requests for UEs in a wireless network environment comprising a first set of base stations and a second set of base stations when the first and second set of base stations have at least one unique network characteristic. By rejecting attachment requests to UEs attempting to access one or more base stations of the second set of base stations, the conventional cell selection and attachment process will drive UEs to attach to the first set of base stations.

Managing access requests in a redundant network environment

Systems and methods are provided for consistent policy enforcement across networks. A subscription is provisioned at a first network with an initial service policy. The first network queries a second network for updated service policy information. In response to the query, updated service policy information for the subscription is received. The updated service policy information is determined by the second network based on a selection criteria attribute for the subscription satisfying selection criteria. The selection criteria attribute is unavailable at the first network. Service is provided to a device associated with the subscription in accordance with the updated service policy information.

Consistent policy enforcement across networks

Network circuitry authorizes User Equipment (UEs) for wireless services from wireless networks. The network circuitry stores lists of network identifiers that are associated with UE types. The network circuitry receives an authorization request that indicates a network identifier and a UE type. The UE type comprises model, operating system, user application, and/or radio frequency. The network circuitry retrieves a networks list for the UE type and compares the network identifier from the authorization request to the network identifiers on the network list. The authorization circuitry authorizes the UE responsive to a match between the network identifier from the authorization request and a network identifier on the network list.

A computer-implemented method, computer-readable media, and wireless system that passively provisions wireless devices over the air are provided. The wireless system includes a database, handset configuration manager, and radio network controller. The database stores updates for the wireless devices and indications of which wireless devices received the updates. The handset configuration manager provides updates for wireless devices available in the database. The wireless devices connect to a communication network associated with a network service provider that implements the handset configuration manager. The radio network controller communicates with wireless devices by establishing a slot 0 communication session with the wireless devices after receiving a registration notification from the wireless devices.

A wireless network of a first type receives a request for network entry from a mobile station. A service continuity query is sent to a service node. A service continuity response is received from the service node. The service continuity response includes a network access identifier. The network access identifier is determined to be associated with an existing session on a wireless network of a second type. The existing session is using a mobile internet protocol address. On the wireless network of the first type, a session is assigned the mobile internet protocol address.

Cross-technology session continuity

Disclosed is a method and system to help better manage resources when a mobile terminal is roaming while within a home-carrier coverage hole or while otherwise threshold close to home carrier coverage. In accordance with the disclosure, a mobile terminal's home carrier will determine that the mobile terminal is being served by a roaming carrier's cell site that is threshold close to a home carrier's cell site, and the home carrier will responsively assign to the mobile terminal an IP address that the home carrier is configured to block.

In response to receiving a mobile internet protocol access accept message at the mobile network internet node transferred from the authentication node where the mobile internet protocol access accept message comprises the mobile network internet node key, the mobile internet protocol address is assigned at the mobile network internet node to a mobile station associated with a user identifier.

If the measure of Diameter message congestion satisfies a congestion criteria, the method provides determining a priority of at least one message of the plurality of Diameter protocol messages. Messages associated with communication sessions participating in a data session have higher priority than messages associated with communication sessions currently establishing and the messages associated with communication sessions currently establishing have higher priority than messages associated with initiating communication sessions. The method further provides selectively discarding the at least one message based on the priority of the at least one message relative to priorities of other messages of the plurality of Diameter protocol messages.

A mobile internet protocol request message is sent from a gateway node to the mobile network internet node. A mobile internet protocol access request message is sent from the mobile network internet node to the authentication node utilizing the authentication node identifier associated with a user identifier.
