A method for setting up forwarding tables is described. A USAT part for a node is received. The USAT part includes glow definitions and a FGPL. Each glow describes network traffic flows and role instructions for the flows. Each FGP describes a role for the switching node; a validity rule; and relevant network topology. The method also includes determining a selected active FGP in the FGPL using the validity rule for the FGP, a network state and the ordering of the FGPs; initializing the glows, requesting a role identification to perform based on the selected FGP, determining the role instructions and instructing the TMS to update tables accordingly; and storing entries in software tables based on glows and the role instructions for the identified role, dynamically resolving conflicts among entries, and granting table updates to hardware tables. The tables include a software table for each hardware memory for forwarding packets.

Framework for universally specified affinity topologies with partial path invalidation and generalized network flows

A single-wavelength light path is selected between a source access node and a destination access node of a wavelength-division multiplexed optical network, including selecting an illuminated wavelength of the light path and selecting a start time and duration for a data transfer that would not interfere with other data transfers. If no start time/wavelength combination is available with duration sufficient to transport the data, an additional wavelength is automatically selected, based on modeling, that would not impair traffic being carried by other wavelengths in the network, and without a time-consuming manual process of the prior art. The scheduling process may include selecting a set of optical fibers, a wavelength, a start time and an end time to transport proposed traffic. A novel scheduler avoids checking every possible start time, thereby saving significant processing time. The scheduler schedules single-wavelength light paths, rather than relying on complex wavelength shifting schemes.

A system, and computer program product for large-scale data transformations. Embodiments include a smoothing engine within an R environment to configure at least one master task and at least two worker tasks. A chunk calculator receives a series of data values and divides the series of data values into portions of data values which are in turn assigned as workloads to at least two worker tasks. The worker tasks serve to calculate a first state value of a first one of the portions of data values, and calculate a second state value of a second one of the portions of data values. The workloads are selected such that calculating a second state value does not depend on the first state value. The results of the workload calculations are used to calculate a smoothing factor used to predict a trend.

An example method of pattern mining includes identifying, via a logic circuit, a plurality of patterns present in a plurality of transactions, the transactions including sets of items, and selecting, via the logic circuit, one of the identified patterns based on an occupancy of the identified pattern in the transactions.

There is provided a computer-implemented method of performing sentiment analysis. An exemplary method comprises performing a first sentiment analysis on microblogging data based on a method using an opinion lexicon. The method also includes training a classifier using training data from the first sentiment analysis. Additionally, the method includes identifying a new opinion term in the microblogging data by performing a statistical test. The new opinion terms are not in the opinion lexicon. The method also includes identifying new microblogging data based on the new opinion term. Further, the method includes performing a second sentiment analysis on the new microblogging data using the classifier.

There is provided a computer-implemented method of performing sentiment analysis. An exemplary method comprises identifying one or more sentences in a microblog. The microblog comprises an entity. The method further includes identifying one or more opinion words in the sentences based on an opinion lexicon. Additionally, the method includes determining, for each of the sentences, an opinion value for the entity. The opinion value is determined based on an opinion value for each of the opinion words in an opinion lexicon.

Performing sentiment analysis

An array of nanowires having a relatively constant diameter and techniques and apparatus for fabrication thereof are described. In one embodiment, a technique for melting a material under vacuum and followed by pressure injection of the molten material into the pores of a porous substrate produces continuous nanowires. In another embodiment, a technique to systematically change the channel diameter and channel packing density of an anodic alumina substrate includes the steps of anodizing an aluminum substrate with an electrolyte to provide an anodic aluminum oxide film having a pore with a wall surface composition which is different than aluminum oxide and etching the pore wall surface with an acid to affect at least one of the surface properties of the pore wall and the pore wall composition.

Nanowire arrays

An array of nanowires having a relativley constant diameter and techniques and apparatus for fabrication thereof are described. Process for fabricating an array of nanowires

A system is provided including an article having a surface and a catalytic metal atom, capable of oxidation, covalently immobilized at the surface via a plurality of covalent bonds, but being free of direct covalent bonding to the surface. In particular, the invention relates to inorganic surfaces including silica, alumina, niobium oxide, or tantalum oxide, or a combination thereof and catalytic metal atoms including Fe, Mn, Cr, Ni, Co, Ru, and Os. The catalytic metal atom, covalently immobilized at the surface via a plurality of covalent bonds, can be immobilized via bonding through at least one atom that is bonded directly to the surface. The article preferably is an inorganic, mesoporous structure, in the pores of which are covalently bonded a plurality of metalloporphyrins. In particular, the catalytic metal atom, such as iron, manganese, chromium, nickel, cobalt, rhenium, and osmium are covalently bonded to a porphyrin structure which is bonded to an alumina or silica surface via bonds between the amine groups of the porphyrin structure of the alumina or silica surface. The invention also discloses supporting the catalytic metal atom bonded to the porphyrin structure via amine groups in the porphyrin and dopant atoms of the alumina or silica surface. Dopant atoms can include niobium and tantalum atoms.
