Alcohol repellent fabrics having a wide variety of uses (e.g., surgical drapes, surgical gowns, etc.) are provided. The alcohol repellent fabric includes a fibrous substrate and an alcohol repellent composition (ARC). The ARC includes at least one fluorochemical and at least one binder.

Absorbent composites suitable for a wide variety of uses (e.g., sorbent drapes, sorbent patches around a fenestration area, tray liners for surgical tools, incontinence pads and liners, other liners, etc.) are provided. The composite includes an absorbent nonwoven. The absorbent nonwoven may comprise a hydroentangled spunbond web. The composite also may comprise a liquid-impermeable film. One or more absorbent nonwovens of a composite may additionally comprise a three-dimensional pattern, for example, a three-dimensional pattern that has been imaged using hydroentanglement. Optionally, any one or more layers of the composites may comprise an antimicrobial additive.

Nonwoven fabrics including a first outermost spunbond layer, a second outermost spunbond layer, and at least a first meltblown and/or melt-fibrillated layer disposed directly or indirectly between the first outermost spunbond layer and the second outermost spunbond layer. The first outermost spunbond layer comprises a first plurality of continuous fibers that are thermally fused and compacted against one another and define a microporous film on an outermost surface of the nonwoven fabric. Nonwoven fabric having high thermal resistance and barrier properties

The present invention is directed to the combined use of first and second fatty acid amides to improve the softness of a thermoplastic polymer construct. A combination of fatty acid amides is provided in the blend ratio of about 10 to 90 percent by weight of a first fatty acid amide and 90 to 10 percent by weight of a second fatty acid amide. The first and second fatty acid amides are compounded into a thermoplastic polymer carrier resin and, preferentially, produced as concentrate pellets containing 0.5 to 75 percent by weight total fatty acid amide loading. The concentrate pellets are introduced into a thermoplastic polymer base, to form a thermoplastic resin, at a letdown level in the range of about 1 to 15 percent, with the range of 2 to 10 percent being preferred, and the range of 3 to 6 percent being most preferred.
