A field emission lamp () includes a tube () having a closed end and an open end, an encapsulation board () mated with the open end, an anode layer () formed on an inner surface, a fluorescence layer () formed on the anode layer, a cathode down-lead pole () located at the encapsulation board, a cathode fixing pole () located at the closed end, a cathode filament () having a carbon nanotube layer formed on a surface thereof fixed between the cathode down-lead pole and the cathode fixing pole, an anode down-lead ring () located at the anode layer near the open end, and an anode down-lead pole () located at the encapsulation board and electrically connected with the anode down-lead ring. The field emission lamp has a simple structure, thereby having an enhanced production rate and a reduced cost.

Field emission lamp

A method for forming a patterned array of carbon nanotubes () includes the steps of: forming an array of carbon nanotubes on a substrate (); imprinting the array of carbon nanotubes using a molding device () with a predetermined pattern; and removing the molding device, thereby leaving a patterned array of carbon nanotubes (). The method can effectively reduce or even eliminate any shielding effect between adjacent carbon nanotubes, and is simple to implement. The field emission performance of the patterned array of carbon nanotubes is improved.

Method for forming a patterned array of carbon nanotubes

A field emission luminescent lamp includes a bulb () being vacuum sealed and defining an inner surface; a lamp head mated with the bulb; an electron emitting cathode filament () having a conductive wire () and a plurality of electron emitters () formed thereon, the electron emitting cathode filament is positioned in the bulb; an anode layer () formed on the inner surface of the bulb; a phosphor layer () formed on the anode layer; an anode electrode () located at the lamp head and electrically connected with the anode layer; and a cathode electrode () located at the lamp head and electrically connected with the electron emitting cathode filament. The lamp may further include a gate grid () and a gate electrode (). The gate grid defines a number of grid holes and surrounds the cathode filament. The gate grid is electrically connected with the gate electrode.

Field emission luminescent light source within a bulb

A light source apparatus () includes a rear plate (), a front plate () formed with an anode layer (), and a cathode () interposed therebetween. The cathode includes a plurality of electrically conductive carriers () and a plurality of field emitters () formed thereon. The field emitters are uniformly distributed on anode-facing surfaces of the conductive carriers. The anode layer includes a plurality of curving portions () corresponding to the conductive carriers. Preferably, the field emitters extend radially outwardly from the corresponding conductive carriers. The conductive carriers are parallel with each other, and are located substantially on a common plane. Each of the conductive carriers can be connected with a pulling device arranged at least one end thereof, and an example of the pulling device is a spring. The conductive carriers may be cylindrical, prism-shaped or polyhedral.

Light source apparatus using field emission cathode

A light source apparatus () includes a rear plate (), a front plate formed with an anode layer (), and a cathode () interposed therebetween. The cathode includes a plurality of electrically conductive carriers () and a plurality of field emitters () formed thereon. The field emitters are uniformly distributed on anode-facing surfaces of the conductive carriers. Preferably, the field emitters extend radially outwardly from the corresponding conductive carriers. The conductive carriers are parallel with each other, and are located substantially on a common plane. Each of the conductive carriers can be connected with a pulling device arranged at least one end thereof, and an example of the pulling device is a spring. The conductive carriers may be cylindrical, prism-shaped or polyhedral.

Field emission cathode and light source apparatus using same

A double-faced light emitting diode display includes a pair of parallel shield panels ('), and a light emitting module () located between the shield panels. Each shield panel includes a video contrast enhancement assembly. The light emitting module includes an opaque insulative substrate () with a pair of pixel matrixes symmetrically formed on opposite surfaces (&#x2032;) thereof and a circuit driving system formed at at least one of the surfaces. Each pixel matrix includes a plurality of pixel units (&#x2032;). Symmetrically opposite pairs of pixel units are electrically interconnected so that the shield panels can simultaneously display same images. The double-faced light emitting diode display has a simple structure, a small size, low cost and full color display capability, and can be advantageously applied in traffic signal boards, large-scale display boards, surround cinemas and so on.

Double-faced light emitting diode display

A double-faced plasma display panel includes two parallel viewing screens ('), and a discharge structure () located between the viewing screens. Each viewing screen includes a transparent substrate (&#x2032;), with a plurality of transparent electrodes (&#x2032;), a transparent dielectric layer (&#x2032;), and a protection layer (&#x2032;) formed at an inner surface of the transparent substrate. The discharge structure includes an opaque insulative substrate (), with a plurality of addressing electrodes (&#x2032;), an opaque dielectric layer (&#x2032;), a plurality of separation walls (&#x2032;), and a fluorescent layer (&#x2032;) formed at each of opposite surfaces (&#x2032;) thereof. Symmetrically opposite pairs of same electrodes are electrically interconnected so that the viewing screens can simultaneous display a same image. Only a single driving system is needed to achieve the simultaneous display.

Double-faced plasma display panel

A preferred method for making a carbon nanotube-based field emission cathode device in accordance with the invention includes the following steps: preparing a solution having a solvent and a predetermined quantity of carbon nanotubes dispersed therein; providing a base with an electrode () formed thereon; forming a layer of conductive grease () on the base; distributing the solution on the layer of conductive grease, and forming a carbon nanotube layer () at least attached on the surface of the conductive grease after the solvent evaporates; and scratching the layer of conductive grease, in order to raise first ends of at least some of the carbon nanotubes from the conductive grease and thereby attain an effective carbon nanotube field emission cathode.

Method for making a carbon nanotube-based field emission cathode device including layer of conductive grease

A field emission device () includes a cathode (), an anode (), and spacers () interposed therebetween. The cathode includes a network base () and a plurality of field emitters () formed thereon. The network base is formed of a plurality of electrically conductive carriers. The field emitters are located on surfaces of the carriers, respectively. The field emitters extend radially outwardly from the corresponding conductive carriers. The plurality of electrically conductive carriers may be made of electrically conductive fibers, for example, metal fibers, carbon fibers, organic fibers or another suitable fibrous material. Carrier portions of the plurality of electrically conductive carriers may be cylindrical, curved/arcuate, or at least approximately curved in shape.

Field emission cathode with field emitters on curved carrier and field emission device using the same

A double-faced field emission display device includes two parallel fluorescent screens (') and an electron emission structure () located between the fluorescent screens. Each fluorescent screen includes a transparent substrate (&#x2032;) with an anode plate (&#x2032;) and coplanar fluorescent layers (&#x2032;) formed at an inner surface of the transparent substrate. The electron emission structure includes an opaque insulative substrate () with cathode plates (&#x2032;), electron emitters (&#x2032;) and grid plates (&#x2032;) formed at each of opposite surfaces () thereof. Symmetrically opposite pairs of same electrodes are electrically interconnected so that the fluorescent screens can simultaneous display a same image. Only a single driving system is needed to achieve the simultaneous display.

Double-faced field emission display device

A field emission lamp includes: a transparent bulb () having a neck portion; a lamp head mated with the neck portion; an anode layer () formed on an inner surface of the bulb; a fluorescence layer () formed on the anode layer; a cathode electrode () and an anode electrode () located at the lamp head; an anode down-lead ring () located at the neck portion, the anode down-lead ring engaging with the anode layer and electrically connecting with the anode electrode via an anode down-lead pole () and a pair of down-leads (); and an electron emitting cathode positioned in the bulb and engaging with the cathode electrode. The field emission lamp is safe for humans and environmentally friendly, provides a high electrical energy utilization ratio, and has a reduced cost.

A cold cathode device () includes a grid (), a cold cathode () positioned under the grid, and a shield electrode () positioned above and parallel to the grid. A vacuum gauge includes a shell (), a collector (), an anode (), and the cold cathode device of the present invention. The cold cathode device and the collector are positioned symmetrically relative to the anode. The collector, the grid and the cold cathode device are received in the shell. The shield electrode can shield an electric field of the grid for preventing from disturbing a symmetrical saddle field in the vacuum gauge. Electrons produced by the cold cathode device can obtain a long electron track because the electron vibration in the saddle field is symmetrical. Thus, the vacuum gauge has an improved sensitivity, and can be widely used to measure pressure in ultra-high and extremely high vacuum conditions.

Cold cathode device and vacuum gauge using same

A vacuum ionization gauge () includes a cathode (), an anode ring (), a shield electrode (), an ion educed electrode (), a reflector () and a collector (). The cathode is positioned corresponding to a first opening of the shield electrode, and the ion educed electrode is positioned corresponding to an opposite second opening of the shield electrode. An ion educed hole () is defined in a middle of the ion educed electrode. The reflector has a curving surface generally surrounding the second opening of the shield electrode. The collector is positioned at a center of the curving surface of the reflector and points toward the ion educed hole. The anode ring is positioned in the middle of the shield electrode. The vacuum ionization gauge is small volume and has low power consumption and improved sensitivity.
