System and methods are directed to displaying interactive content with static content in a user interface of an application. More specifically, it may be determined that an interactive component is to be rendered in a user interface of a first application, where the user interface includes static content. In response to determining that the interactive component is it be rendered, at least one linking parameter may be determined for linking the interactive component with interactive content stored in a shared storage. Based on the at least one linking parameter, the interactive component may be rendered in the user interface of the first application in-line with the static content of the user interface of the first application. Changes to the interactive content made by a second user of a second application may then be updated within the interactive component rendered in the user interface of the first application.

Interactive components for user collaboration

Traditional messaging applications (such as email, social networking platforms, text, instant messaging, chat, etc.) are ill-equipped for collaboration. For instance, a sender and recipients corresponding regarding a topic are often required to exchange multiple messages. As a result, determining a consensus regarding the topic or summarizing the collaboration is difficult and cumbersome. Moreover, when links are included in messages, recipients are required to navigate away from the messaging application to view the linked content. A messaging application is provided that may be configured to enable users to dynamically collaborate regarding links or data within a sent message or a receive message. In aspects, a collaborative user experience (UX) is provided, which may be an interface within a message that enables real-time collaboration between a sender and one or more recipients regarding message content—without exchanging additional messages or navigating away from the messaging application.

Converting links and static data into collaborative user experiences

Cross-browser techniques for efficient document pagination are provided. In one set of embodiments, a computer system can receive an indication of a starting point for a page in a content flow of a document and build a DOM tree of content elements in a portion of the content flow spanning from the starting point to an estimated ending point, the estimated ending point corresponding to an estimated ending boundary for the page. The computer system can further invoke an API that causes a layout engine of the web browser to create a layout of the page based on the DOM tree and determine, based on the layout and the content flow, one or more content elements in the content flow that fall beyond an actual ending boundary of the page. The computer system can then remove the one or more content elements from the DOM tree and add the DOM tree to a page set for the document.
