Light emitting device with cooling elements

An SSL lighting device () comprising a housing (), which has a reflective inner surface (), and an elongated light guide () which includes a wavelength converting material () for converting light in a first wavelength range to light in a second wavelength range. The elongated light guide () comprises two ends (), a portion for receiving light () and a portion for emitting light (). The portion for receiving light () is arranged inside the housing () and the portion for emitting light () is arranged outside the housing () and at least one of the two ends () forms the portion () for emitting light. The SSL lighting device () also comprises a plurality of SSL light sources () arranged inside the housing () at a distance from the elongated light guide (). A part of the light emitted from the plurality of SSL light sources () into the housing () enters the light guide () via the portion for receiving light () and is absorbed and converted by the wavelength converting material (). By enclosing the light sources () and a portion of the light guide () inside a housing () with a reflective inner surface () and by having a wavelength conversion process occurring inside the light guide (), this construction enables light from several light sources () to be used for providing a single high-intensity and high-power light source.

Solid state lighting device

A synthetic jet cooling device () for cooling an object (), comprising: a transducer () adapted to generate velocity waves, and an enclosure () arranged to receive the velocity waves via an actuated aperture (). The enclosure () is sufficiently large to generate, at the actuated aperture (), an internal synthetic jet inside the enclosure (). Furthermore, the enclosure () is arranged to contain the object (), thereby enabling cooling of the object () by the internal synthetic jet. The arrangement typically permits multifunctional use of an existing enclosure, containing the object to be cooled, both for its original purpose (e.g. a reflector in a lamp, or a LED backlight module) and as an enclosure generating internal synthetic jets, why the cooling device typically requires virtually no extra space and weight, and can be provided at a low cost.

A device () includes: a first electrode (); an electro-statically movable second electrode (); and an electrically insulating layer () disposed between the first and second electrodes. An optical arrangement comprising a light guide () having a light-entry portion () with a light-entry surface (), a tapering portion () with a light reflecting surface, and a light-exit surface (). The light-entry portion () is arranged to guide light from the light-entry surface () in a first direction (x) towards the light reflecting surface (H I), the light reflecting surface being arranged in relation to the first direction (x) so that incident light from the light-entry portion () is reflected towards the light-exit surface (). A light transmitting layer () is adapted to transmit light diffusively and arranged to cover at least a portion of the light-entry edge surface () of the light guide (). The arrangement is e.g. suitable for use in a LED based luminaire and allows for efficiency and forming of a light beam able to fulfill glare requirements. The arrangement may advantageously be used in a downlighting application.

An imprint lithography method is provided. The method includes undertaking first and second imprints, which comprises for each imprint: for an area of a substrate provided with a plurality of drops of imprintable medium in respectively first and second configurations, imprinting a pattern in the imprintable medium using a same imprint template, pockets being formed between the drops of the imprintable medium, the imprint template and the substrate during the imprinting of the pattern, wherein the first configuration of drops of imprintable medium is different from the second configuration of drops of imprintable medium, such that pockets formed during the second imprint are formed at different locations relative to the imprint template to pockets formed during the first imprint.

The invention relates to an optical disc consisting of a synthetic resin substrate provided with readable information in a layer. The moisture-proof layer is arranged between the synthetic resin substrate and a second synthetic resin layer. A suitable choice of the position of the layer, that is the ratio &thgr; between the thickness of the second synthetic resin layer and the total thickness of the optical disc, enables the absolute maximum concentration moment (CM) or warpage of the optical disc to fall within a fixed range when the humidity of the environment changes. This range preferably lies between a small positive value and a small negative value.
