The invention relates to a PSE device () to be used in a PoE lighting system (), wherein the PSE device () is adapted to receive input power from a power providing system (). The PSE device () comprises a power detection unit for detecting whether the received input power is primary input power or backup input power, wherein the PSE device () is adapted to control the power consumption of lighting units () depending on the power detection. This allows for an indication of an emergency situation, in which the backup input power is provided, to the PSE device () without necessarily requiring data communication means. Moreover, the power consumption of the lighting units () can be more efficiently utilized in case of emergency.

Power source equipment device for a power over ethernet lighting system

Powered devices for use in a power distribution system are provided. The power distribution system may comprise a power providing device for providing power at an output voltage to the powered device over an output interface, and an electrical conductor for transmitting the power between the power providing device and the powered device. The powered device may be assigned to a power class corresponding to a predetermined first power limit and a predetermined second power limit. The predetermined first power limit may relate to a maximum power that the powered device may consume, and the predetermined second power limit may relate to the maximum power that the power providing device may provide.

Powered device and power distribution system comprising the powered device

The invention relates to a PoE lighting system () comprising an emergency lighting device (), a first PSE device () and a second PSE device (). The first PSE device is adapted to provide power based on a) first power received from a first power source or b) second power received from a second PSE device via a first fire-resistant PoE connection () in case of emergency. The first PSE device is adapted to detect whether power is received from the second PSE device and to provide power to the emergency lighting device based on the second power via a second fire-resistant PoE connection (), if it has been detected that power has been received from the second PSE device. This can allow for a provision of PoE emergency lighting in case of fire, even if a communication via the fire-resistant PoE connections is not possible anymore.

Power-over-ethernet lighting system

A power unbalance mitigating polarity correction circuit is presented comprising a first and a second polarity correction circuit, each comprising: an input for receiving an input current, an output for providing a rectified output current, at least a first current path, for conducting the received current when the received current is of a first polarity, and a second current path, for conducting the received current when the received current is of a second polarity, wherein the first current path comprises a passive rectification component as an asymmetric conductance component of a first type and the second current path comprises an active rectification component as an asymmetric conductance component of a second type different from the first type; the power unbalance mitigating polarity correction circuit further comprising a controller, wherein the controller is arranged for controlling the active rectification component to operate in a power unbalance mitigation mode when the current received by the first polarity correction circuit is conducted over the first current path of the first polarity correction circuit and the current received by the second polarity correction circuit is conducted over the second current path of the second polarity correction circuit.
