A method includes wirelessly receiving audio content via a first transceiver included in a housing of a first device and producing a first audible signal from the audio content via a speaker included in the housing of the first device. The audio content is wirelessly transmitted via the first transceiver to a second transceiver integrated within a first remote speaker. A second audible signal is produced from the audio content via the first remote speaker. The method also includes wirelessly relaying the audio content via the second transceiver to a third transceiver integrated within a second remote speaker and producing a third audible signal from the audio content via the second remote speaker. The second remote speaker is located outside of the transmission range of the first transceiver.

Various aspects include approaches for controlling audio playback based upon a detected user sleep state. In one implementation, a computer-implemented method of controlling playback of an audio file at a wearable audio device includes: receiving a first indicator about movement or a position of an audio gateway over a period; receiving a second indicator about movement or position of the wearable audio device over the period, wherein the wearable audio device is separate from the audio gateway; and in response to the first indicator deviating from the second indicator by less than a threshold for the period, inserting a marker in the audio file that enables a user to revert back to the playback at a time of the marker.

Sleep detection system for wearable audio device

A method is provided for directing a user to a point of interest using sounds played on a wearable audio output device. A user's direction of gaze is determined using data from at least one sensor in the audio output device. First and second locations are determined of the user and the point of interest respectively, and a distance is determined between the first and second locations. A relative angle between the direction of gaze and the direction of the point of interest is determined based on the determined first and second locations. A sample sound is altered using at least one sonification technique to convey information relating to the determined distance and the relative angle. The altered sample sound is rendered and output for playing by the audio output device.

Audio navigation to a point of interest

An audio demonstration kit encourages understanding of audio concepts by enabling children to construct and study speaker performance. In a particular example, the audio demonstration kit includes a paper speaker and instructions. The paper speaker includes a backplate, a suspension, and a diaphragm cut from a single sheet of paper. The demonstration kit may feature an amplifier that is configurable to accommodate various hardware additions as a child is ready for more progressively challenging construction. For example, the amplifier of an example allows single and dual mode operation, as well as drives a rotary motor and is coordinated with a strobe light. The amplifier of an example is synchronized with the strobe light and a moveable platform to create the impression of that jiggling figures attached to the table are dancing. Interfaces with smart phone, recording, and other technologies further enhances and encourages the learning experience.

Aspects of the present disclosure provide a headphone assembly having a customizable ear cups. Specifically, a user may customize an outer surface of an ear cup assembly by selecting one or more of color to be illuminated on the outer surface and an insert. The insert further diffuses the illuminate light. A trim ring that secures the insert is configured to overlay the lightpipe and a portion of an ear cup subassembly regardless of the presence of the insert.

A speaker includes a housing; an electroacoustic driver secured to the housing, and an element that is secured to a movable portion of the driver. The element is accessible from outside of the housing and is capable of having an object secured to the element. When the driver is operated in a first mode in a first frequency band, motion is imparted through the element to the object.

An audio system includes a base station, an interface that enables transmission of audio content from a handheld media device to the base station via a cable, and one or more remote speakers configured to receive the audio content from the base station. The base station includes a housing, a speaker integrated within the housing to produce an audible signal from the audio content provided by the handheld media device, and a transceiver integrated within the housing for wirelessly transmitting the audio content to the one or more remote speakers. The one or more remote speakers are configured to wirelessly relay the audio content, thereby to supply the audio content beyond the transmission range of the transceiver.

In some examples, a motor assembly kit includes a magnet, a coil, a bearing, and a flat assembly. The flat assembly includes a base structure, a first plurality of components, and a second plurality of components. The first plurality of components are removable from the flat assembly to construct a magnet support to support the magnet above the base structure. The second plurality of components are removable from the flat assembly to construct a coil cradle to support the coil above the base structure.

A system encourages experimentation with audio frequency and speaker technologies while causing an inanimate object to appear to lip-sync. The system applies a bandpass filter to an incoming audio stream to determine a magnitude of audio content in a frequency band of interest. For example, the system may filter results directed at the voice band, associated with speech. A controller controls a strobe light to flash at a particular point of travel of a platform reciprocating at a known frequency. An illusion is created that a sculpture, such as a piece of paper formed into a ring, is lip-synching to music.
