An improved vehicle headlamp for developing forward illumination and having reduced dimensions relative to prior art headlamps is disclosed. The lamp comprises an enclosed concave parabolic reflector of a rectangular cross section type and having a single tungsten-halogen light source coaxially located within the enclosed reflector. The headlamp has a glare shield arranged around the light source when the headlamp is utilized for low beam application and a heat shield located about the light source for both low and high beam applications. The light source is of a tubular shape and has a bulbous portion preferably of an ellipsoidal shape. The efficacy of the light source is improved by means of an infrared reflective coating placed on its outer surface.

Automotive headlamp

Incandescent lamps having an outer envelope with their outer surface sandblasted except at the neck section and the inner surface electrostatically coated are disclosed. The combination of the sandblasting and electrostatic coating provides the incandescent lamp with a diffused light output. The absence of sandblasting at the neck section reduces the breakage of the outer envelope at the region of joinder of the outer envelope to the base of the incandescent lamp.

Sandblasted incandescent lamps with an improved neck section

A lamp adapted to various residential, commercial and industrial needs by a reflective film is disclosed. The disclosed lamp having the reflective film transmits desired portions of the radiation spectrum selected for impinging onto various mediums. Also disclosed are various arrangements of the reflective film along with various desired film characteristics selected for various mediums to be impinged.

High efficiency tubular heat lamps

An improved incandescent lamp comprising an inner envelope disposed within an outer envelope is disclosed. The inner envelope contains a halogen gas along with a relatively high pressure efficient fill gas. The inner envelope houses a tungsten filament which is partly surrounded by a separate light-transmissive cylinder. The separate cylinder has on one of its surfaces a selective infrared reflective filter capable of efficiently operating at a temperature range of up to and including about 950.degree. to about 1050.degree. C.
