An improved process for producing stabilized core-shell latex emulsion adhesives is disclosed. In a process which comprises preparing a hydrophilic polymer and thereafter contacting the hydrophilic polymer with a hydrophobic monomer for producing an inverted core-shell latex emulsion, the improvement comprises the additional step of adjusting the pH of the inverted core-shell latex emulsion for dissolving the hydrophilic polymer, thereby to produce a stabilized latex emulsion adhesive.

Process for producing a stabilized latex emulsion adhesive

An improved process for pruducing stabilized, core-shell latex emulsions is disclosed. In a process which comprises preparing a hydrophilic polymer and contacting the hydrophilic polymer with a hydrophobic monomer for producing an inverted core-shell latex emulsion, the improvement comprises the additional step of adjusting the pH of the inverted core-shell latex emulsion to dissolve the hydrophilic polymer, thereby to produce a stabilized, core-shell latex emulsion.

Stable emulsion polymers and methods of preparing same

An emulsion polymer of a water insoluble vinylic monomer and an acrylic monomer is formed by precharging a portion of the acrylic monomer and thereafter adding a comonomer charge corresponding to the final desired composition of the vinylic monomer and acrylic monomer at an addition rate generally corresponding to the steady state monomers concentration. A high non-volatiles content is maintained to inhibit the acrylic monomer from partitioning into the aqueous phase.

Oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsion hard surface coating compositions containing a solvent within a specified solubility parameter, silicone fluids, an acrylic polymer soluble in the solvent, surfactants, water and optionally waxes and abrasives. The compositions have excellent detergent resistance, have good gloss and buff properties.
