A process for restricting a vehicle operator from passing through an access-controlled barrier in response to a parking violation. In operation, an electronic computing device determines that a vehicle is parked in violation of a parking regulation enforced in a parking space and that a vehicle operator associated with the vehicle has exited the vehicle after having parked the vehicle in violation of the parking regulation. The electronic computing device then compares an identifiable feature uniquely associated with the vehicle operator with an identifiable feature uniquely associated with a person approaching the access-controlled barrier. The person is identified as the vehicle operator who parked the vehicle in violation of the parking regulation when there is a threshold level of correlation between the identifiable feature uniquely associated with the person and the identifiable features uniquely associated with the vehicle operator. The electronic computing device restricts the person identified as the vehicle operator from passing through the access-controlled barrier.

A method and apparatus for performing noise suppression on an electronic device is provided herein. During operation, a volume-control knob will increase a volume of sound output from a device in a substantially linear fashion (versus knob rotation angle) as a volume-control knob is rotated in a first direction. Noise suppression on the electronic device will also increase as the volume-control knob is rotated in the first direction.

A method and apparatus for volume control of an electronic device is provided herein. During operation, a volume-control knob will increase a volume of sound output from a device in a substantially linear fashion (versus knob rotation angle) as a volume-control knob is rotated. Once the volume-control knob is rotated past a predetermined amount, a volume boost is activated, increasing the volume level in a non-linear fashion. More particularly, in one embodiment of the present invention, once the volume-control knob is rotated past the predetermined amount (e.g., 300 degrees), the volume will be increased instantaneously (e.g., by 25%).

A method and apparatus for correcting a wrongly-translated word in a device employing speech recognition is provided herein. During operation, a device will use a second language to correct a wrongly-translated word that was wrongly translated using a first language. More particularly, after speech recognition is performed using the first language, when a user selects text to be corrected, the user will utter the speech again using the second language that differs from the first language. Both the first and the second language can be used by the device to determine a best translation of the speech.

A device receives an assignment identifier and input to access a web-based application using a link and a browser application. The device incorporates the assignment identifier into the link to generate a customized link and launches the browser application using the customized link to retrieve customized application data indicative of the web-based application customized according to the assignment identifier. The device controls a display screen to render the customized application data in the browser application. A server receives the customized link from the device, generates the customized application data, indicative of the web-based application customized according to the assignment identifier, and transmits the customized application data to the device.

An audio earphone device may include an earpiece configured to playback audio, an earhook attached to the earpiece, and an eartip removably attached to the earpiece. The earpiece may be configured to deliver audio to the ear with the removably attached eartip removed. The earhook may be configured to be placed around an ear to position an opening for a speaker of the earpiece over the cavum concha of the ear. The eartip may be configured to sit in the cavum concha of the ear and channel audio from the opening of the earpiece to the ear canal of the ear. The eartip may be removably attached to only a side of the earpiece that is configured to be proximate to the ear.

A method and apparatus for PTT over IoT is described herein. During operation each IoT device will be assigned to a talkgroup. Some talkgroups may have a single IoT device assigned, and other talkgroups may have multiple IoT devices assigned. During operation, an action command to control an IoT device is received over a first talkgroup. Users that are geographically near the IoT device are determined and polled as to whether or not they agree with the action command. If users near the IoT device agree to the action command, then a command is issued to a first IoT device assigned to that talkgroup.

System, method and device for wireless power transfer

A ruggedized housing for a portable radio is provided. The housing is formed of a front housing portion, a rear housing portion, and a battery cover. The front housing portion has a top surface with offset tapered edges, without any user interface radio controls. An antenna protective cover having offset tapered edges and a straight vertical side couples to the top surface. The offset tapered edges of the antenna protective cover align with the offset tapered edges of the top surface of the radio. The straight vertical side of the antenna protective cover aligns flush with the side housing of the radio. A lanyard through-hole feature is located and protected by a contoured end of the top surface and is located diagonally opposite a top tip end of the antenna protective cover. The top tip end of the antenna protective cover and the lanyard encasement are sloped in opposite directions.
