A latch () is usable to selectively hold a closure member such as a door () in a closed position. The latch includes a body () which has a manually engageable handle () on a front side thereof. A shank () is in rotationally movable connection with the handle. The shank extends through the body and into an indexing cam bore () on the back side of the body. The shank is both axially and rotationally movable about a cam bore axis (). An indexing cam () is connected to the shank. The shank is in operative connection with a striker (). The striker is rotationally movable responsive to rotation of the handle between a latched position and unlatched position when the shank is in a second axial position. When the shank is in a first axial position, the shank is held in a fixed rotational position by the indexing cam, and the striker is held in the latched position. A cam bolt () is movably engageable with the striker to hold the striker in the latched position. The cam bolt is in operative connection with a lock cylinder (). The lock cylinder is rotatable in engagement with a correct key to selectively position the cam bolt.

Latch apparatus

A latch () includes a rotatable jaw () that engages and holds a striker () in a latched position. A rotatable pawl () in an engaged position is operative to hold the jaw in the latched position. Movement of the pawl to a disengaged position enables the jaw to move to an unlatched position and to disengage the striker. The pawl is movable from the engaged position to the disengaged position through operation of either an electrical actuator () or through movement of an actuating end () of the pawl by a cable or similar mechanical connector ().

An apparatus for controlling bus doors () that are arranged as a pair of doors that move in coordinated relation between door open positions and door closed positions, enables passengers to access an interior area () of a bus (). The apparatus includes an actuator (). The actuator includes a drive lever () that is selectively rotationally movable between rotational positions in which both of the doors are in the open positions and in the closed positions. Exemplary arrangements include at least one controller () that is operative to prevent the doors from causing damage to or from being damaged by engagement with obstructions. The controller further enables a bus driver or other authorized user to control access to the interior area of the bus using a user mobile device ().

Apparatus for controlling bus doors

An exemplary hinge () is used to connect a body door () in movable operative connection with a body (). The hinge enables selectively moving the door to open and close a body opening (). The hinge includes a primary hinge butt () which includes a primary hinge butt knuckle (). A primary hinge strap () includes a primary hinge strap knuckle () which enables relative rotational movement of the primary hinge butt and the primary hinge strap. The door is in operatively attached connection with the primary hinge strap. A secondary hinge butt () may be in operative connection with the primary hinge strap to enable relative rotational movement of the door relative to the primary hinge strap in the hinge open position. A disengageable latch may be used to hold the secondary hinge butt in a fixed rotational position.

A commercial vehicle access control system provides selective access to authorized users to interior areas of respective service vehicle item storage compartments. The compartments are usable to house items such as tools, equipment, materials or products that are removed from or placed in such compartments. A system controller is in operative connection with a plurality of electrically actuated door locks which can be operated responsive to communication with a portable wireless device to enable access to selected compartments and the items which are housed therein. A plurality of vehicle cameras and other sensors are operative to detect activities related to the removal from or placement of items within the compartments, as well as other conditions associated with the operation and status conditions of the vehicle.
