A clamp for a downhole tool includes a sleeve having an axis and sleeve bodies. The sleeve bodies are coupled together on a first side of the clamp. Fasteners are used to mechanically lock the sleeve bodies together on a second side of the clamp to surround and clamp onto an exterior of a drill string having pipes. The pipes are coupled together at their coupled connections. In addition, recesses are formed in an exterior of each sleeve body. Inserts are mounted in the recesses to provide low friction exterior surfaces for the clamp.

An ebullated bed hydroprocessing system is upgraded and operated at modified conditions using a dual catalyst system to produce less fouling sediment. The less fouling sediment produced by the upgraded ebullated bed reactor reduces the rate of equipment fouling at any given sediment production rate and/or concentration compared to the sediment produced by the ebullated bed reactor prior to upgrading. In some cases, sediment production rate and/or concentration are maintained or increased, after upgrading the ebullated bed reactor, while equipment fouling is reduced. In other cases, sediment production rate and/or concentration are increased, after upgrading the ebullated bed reactor, without increasing equipment fouling. In some cases, sediment production rate and/or concentration are decreased by a given percentage, after upgrading the ebullated bed reactor, and the rate of equipment fouling is decreased by a substantially greater percentage.

Ebullated bed reactor upgraded to produce sediment that causes less equipment fouling

An ebullated bed hydroprocessing system is upgraded using a dual catalyst system that includes a heterogeneous catalyst and dispersed metal sulfide particles to improve the quality of vacuum residue. The improved quality of vacuum residue can be provided by one or more of reduced viscosity, reduced density (increased API gravity), reduced asphaltene content, reduced carbon residue content, reduced sulfur content, and reduced sediment. Vacuum residue of improved quality can be produced while operating the upgraded ebullated bed reactor at the same or higher severity, temperature, throughput and/or conversion. Similarly, vacuum residue of same or higher quality can be produced while operating the upgraded ebullated bed reactor at higher severity, temperature, throughput and/or conversion.

An ebullated bed hydroprocessing system is upgraded using a dual catalyst system that includes a heterogeneous catalyst and dispersed metal sulfide particles to hydroprocess opportunity feedstocks (i.e., lower quality heavy oils or lower quality feedstock blends) while maintaining or increasing the rate of production of converted products. The dual catalyst system improves the ability of the upgraded ebullated bed hydroprocessing system to accommodate and withstand negative effects of periodic use of opportunity feedstocks (e.g., without significantly increasing equipment fouling and/or sediment production). In some cases, an upgraded ebullated bed reactor using the dual catalyst system can hydroprocess opportunity feedstocks while decreasing equipment fouling and/or sediment production.

An ebullated bed hydroprocessing system is upgraded using a dual catalyst system that includes a heterogeneous catalyst and dispersed metal sulfide particles to increase rate of production of converted products. The rate of production is achieved by increasing reactor severity, including increasing the operating temperature and at least one of throughput or conversion. The dual catalyst system permits increased reactor severity and provides increased production of converted products without a significant increase in equipment fouling and/or sediment production. In some cases, the rate of production of conversion products can be achieved while decreasing equipment fouling and/or sediment production.

Upgraded ebullated bed reactor with increased production rate of converted products

A ruggedized bidirectional cutting system with an outer wear band having a first blade-free fitting section engaging within the drill string and a first cutting section integral with the first blade-free fitting section. The first cutting section has a plurality of blades, each blade with two cutting portions extending at defined cutting angles and a blade cutting portion extending at a third angle from the longitudinal axis different from the first and second angles. Each blade has cutting inserts. A plurality of flutes are formed between pairs of blades to stabilizes and protects bottom hole equipment while a wellbore completes directional drilling objectives.

Ruggedized bidirectional cutting system

An ebullated bed hydroprocessing system is upgraded using a dual catalyst system that includes a heterogeneous catalyst and dispersed metal sulfide particles to produce less fouling sediment. The dual catalyst system more effectively converts sediment-forming precursors to produce sediment that is less fouling than sediment produced using only the heterogeneous catalyst and not the dispersed metal sulfide particles. The dual catalyst system provides for a lower rate of equipment fouling for a given sediment production rate and/or concentration. In some cases, sediment production rate and/or concentration can be maintained or increased while equipment fouling is reduced. In some cases, sediment production rate and/or concentration can be increased without increasing equipment fouling.

Upgraded ebullated bed reactor with less fouling sediment

A stress-free centralizer system for wellbore tubulars having a centralizer portion with hollow vanes or solid vanes. An injectable material can be configured to harden at ambient or elevated temperatures and installed into the hollow vanes while coating a portion of the inner surface of the centralizer portion. Alternatively, a swellable encapsulation and shape shifting material can be used instead of the injectable material. Additionally, primers and adhesives can be used with the centralizer portion. Both materials when hardened or swollen can be configured to withstand temperatures and pressures within a wellbore for twenty-four hours without melting or degrading. The centralizer portion can simultaneously prevent axial movement and rotational movement while installed on the wellbore tubular, distribute load evenly around the centralizer portion, and provide cathodic protection to the wellbore tubular without using a stop collar with screws.

A field created integral electrically isolated centralizer and swell packer system for wellbore tubulars having in series over the wellbore tubular, a first end ring, a swell packer portion over a first and second primer optionally with cured resin, a second end ring, wherein the end rings inhibit axial movement of the swell packer portion. Integral with the swell packer portion an electrically isolating centralizer; a cured resin bonded to the wellbore tubular filling all hollow spaces of the centralizer portion integrally forming a high strength bond, while excluding bonding to the first and second end rings, the cured resin configured to cure to a hardness of at least 50 shore A and withstand temperatures and pressures within a wellbore for at least twenty-four hours without melting, while specifically excluding a sand screen.

Integral electrically isolated centralizer and swell packer system

An isolation liner incorporating a drill pipe and a swell packer, the swell packer configured to simultaneously cut and seals a wellbore, or slide down and seal a wellbore having a swellable section and a pair of end rings. The end rings couple the cylindrical body to the swellable wellbore packer section. Each end ring forms an annular abutment surface that cooperates with the swellable member to inhibit axial movement of the swellable member on the substantially cylindrical body. On each end ring, at least one diamond cutter insert, polyamide button, and/or tungsten carbide blocks is installed circumferentially and spaced apart symmetrically or near-symmetrically on the end ring.

A drilling rig with mini-stabilizer tool for connecting to a measurement while drilling (MWD) system. The mini-stabilizer tool centralizes components in the wellbore for a more accurate measurement to protect measurement while drilling components from wear on shoulders of the measurement while drilling components. The mini-stabilizer tool accomplishes wear prevention by positioning the measurement while drilling components away from edges of the wellbore.

A bidirectional stabilizer which reduces impact damage while rotating into and out of a wellbore. The bidirectional stabilizer can be coupled on a first end to a drill string and on a second end to a drill bit. The bidirectional stabilizer can have an annulus configured for maximum wellbore fluid flow. A cutting portion can be formed on a shaft with a plurality of helical blades between the first shaft end and the second shaft end. The plurality of helical blades of the cutting portion can be on a first plane and a plurality of cutting nodes can be on a second plane for smoothing a wellbore. The plurality of cutting nodes can have at least one impact arrestor mounted directly adjacent each cutting node.

A bidirectional stabilizer, which reduces impact damage while rotating into and out of a wellbore. The bidirectional stabilizer can be coupled on a first end to a drill string and on a second end to a drill bit. The bidirectional stabilizer can have an annulus configured for maximum wellbore fluid flow. A cutting portion can be formed on a shaft with a plurality of blades between the first shaft end and the second shaft end. The plurality of blades of the cutting portion can be on a first plane and a plurality of cutting nodes can be on a second plane for smoothing a wellbore. The plurality of blades can have a wrap angle for forming a particle flow path between pairs of the plurality of blades configured with a line of sight parallel to the longitudinal axis.

An end ring having a first ring with an inner diameter, a second ring with the inner diameter and a thickness 25 percent greater than the first ring; a shoulder with a sloped outer surface connecting the first ring to the second ring; a plurality of flutes formed in an outer surface of the end ring, a plurality of fastener holes formed in the first and second rings, wherein the end ring either slides over a first end of a base pipe and fastens together the base pipe and edges of a rubber tubular surrounding the base pipe; or slides over a first end of a frac tubular and fastens edges of a frac sleeve to the frac tubular. The invention includes a swell packer and a frac tubular having the end rings.
