A conference management system that is capable of managing one or more panels within a teleconference. The conference manager is capable of receiving commands for the purposes of configuring one or more panels and, during a teleconference, activating various panels at various times. In particular, the conference manager is configured to add participants in a teleconference to a panel. The conference manager is also configured to activate a panel, which has the effect of unmuting the audio and video media of the participants previously identified as members of the panel. The conference manager can be further configured to restore the conference to its previous mode, such as a lecture mode in which a lecturer participant is identified as a permanent speaker such that activating and deactivating a panel does not result in the lecturer being muted. Muting treatments other than activating a panel can also be applied to the teleconference.

System and method for managing multi-media conferences using group segmentation

A conference management system, network, and method for enabling the management of teleconference resources across multiple telecommunications networks that serve multiple conference domains. A disclosed multi-domain conference manager (MDCM) subscribes to a network management platform and for one or more sets of entities. Each set defines a particular combination of i) communications service provider(s) (CSP) and ii) enterprise, in which the combination defines a particular scope of management. When a conference-related event occurs, such as a particular conference involving video endpoints being set up with a unified communications (UC) network, the MDCM can notify a CSP network that is within a same scope of management as the UC network, to report on related events as they occur. The MDCM can then coordinate the connection of resources associated with the multiple domains via a cascaded link between bridging resources that serve the different domains.

Method, apparatus and network for multi-domain conference management

Systems and methods for presenting a single invitation to join a communication directed to a multimodal endpoint are provided. More particularly, a communication directed to a multimodal endpoint is delivered to the multimodal endpoint using only a single communication network at a time. A communication server handling an incoming communication directed to the multimodal endpoint first attempts to initiate a communication session using a first, preferred communication network. If the communication is completed or is responded to by the multimodal endpoint using the first network, an attempt to complete the communication using a second network is not initiated. Alternatively, if the first communication network is not available to deliver the communication to the multimodal endpoint, an attempt to complete the communication using the second communication network is initiated.

Method and apparatus for priority based session delivery to multimodal endpoints

A method and apparatus provide terminal status information by a telecommunication terminal as audio information by generating terminal status information by a telecommunication terminal; establishing a direct connection by a monitor computer to the telecommunication terminal via a direct link to the telecommunication terminal; transmitting the generated terminal status information to the monitor computer by the telecommunication terminal via the direct link; converting the generated terminal status information to audio terminal status information by the monitor computer; and presenting the audio terminal status information to a user of the telecommunication terminal. In addition, the method and apparatus establish a firewall by the telecommunication terminal to prevent the monitor computer from communicating on a network to which the telecommunication terminal is connected whereby the monitor computer is also denied access to other devices connected to the network.

Apparatus and method for providing status information telecommunication

The proposed invention provides a user-friendly way for people to turn a traditional in-progress voice-only telephone call into a multi-media call. This may be accomplished using various technologies that can be provided over the Internet or some other multi-media computing/networking platform. The multi-media aspect of the invention may be used to facilitate the sharing of additional information between the call participants as well as dynamically update security aspects (e.g., encryption keys) associated with call.
