Coaxial cable-connector assemblies include: a coaxial cable having: an inner conductor having a termination end including a bore; a dielectric layer that overlies the inner conductor; and an outer conductor that overlies the dielectric layer having a termination end; a right angle coaxial connector including: an inner conductor body with a post configured to mate with the inner conductor body of a mating jack, the inner conductor body further including a receptacle that receives the termination end of the inner conductor such that the post is generally perpendicular to the inner conductor; an outer conductor body configured to mate with the outer conductor body of the mating coaxial cable jack and electrically connected with the termination end of the outer conductor; and an expansion member inserted into the bore of the termination end of the inner conductor sized and configured to radially expand the termination end of the inner conductor.

A coaxial connector with a connector body is provided with a connector body bore. A grip ring is retained within the connector body bore, and an outer diameter of the grip ring abuts an annular wedge surface provided with a taper between a maximum diameter proximate the connector end and a minimum diameter proximate the cable end. The wedge surface may be provided directly on the connector body bore sidewall or alternatively on an inner diameter of a clamp ring coupled to the cable end of the connector body. An inner diameter of the grip ring is provided with a grip surface. A spring contact is retained within the connector body bore. The grip surface provided with a rotational interlock with the connector body directly or via an interconnection with the spring contact and/or clamp ring.

In accordance with the present invention, the foregoing objectives are realized by providing a connector assembly comprising an outer connector for engaging the outer conductor of the cable, an inner connector having a threaded portion adapted to fit into the hollow inner conductor in threaded engagement with the interior surface of the inner conductor, the threads comprising a plurality of interleaved concentric threads, and a dielectric spacer between the inner and outer connectors. In a preferred embodiment, the multiple interleaved threads are self-tapping threads so that the inner connector can be simply threaded into the hollow inner conductor without any advance tapping of the inner conductor.
