Voice interface for a dialysis machine

A portable adapter is provided that can include a closure system configured to control the flow of blood and/or dialysate between the adapter and a blood treatment apparatus. Modular systems are also provided that include the portable adapter engaged with various units such as a portable blood processing module, a non-portable base module, and/or a remote module. Methods of conducting blood treatments such as blood circulation, hemodialysis, and hemofiltration, hemodiafiltration, using the modular systems are also provided. The systems, units, and methods enable the engagement and disengagement of the adapter from the various units to conduct, interrupt, and resume blood treatments without disconnecting the adapter from the vasculature of a patient. Modular systems including interchangeable portable and base modules configured for various blood treatments are also provided that can be engaged and disengaged with each other without disconnecting the portable module from the vasculature of a patient.

Modular blood treatment systems, units, and methods

A system for controlling the position of a diaphragm in a diaphragm-containing pressure pod, is provided. The system can include a peristaltic pump, a pressure pod having a flow-through fluid side and a gas side that are separated by a diaphragm, and a pressure sensor operatively connected to the gas side. The pressure sensor is configured to sense pulses of pressure resulting from movement of the diaphragm and caused by the action of the peristaltic pump. A gas source and a valve can be in fluid communication with the gas side of the pressure pod and can be configured to provide gas to, or vent gas from, the gas side. A controller receives pressure signals from the pressure sensor and controls the valve in response, and in so doing, controls the position of the diaphragm. Methods for positioning the diaphragm are also included.

A medical treatment system comprising a housing; a recess defined by the housing; and a keyboard connected to the housing by a mechanism configured to permit the keyboard to move between: a deployed position in which the keyboard is disposed outside of the recess at an angle of 10&#xb0; to 80&#xb0; relative to a front surface of the housing; and a stored position in which the keyboard is at least partially disposed in the recess and keys of the keyboard are exposed for use by a user.

A dialysis machine comprising: one or more processing units configured to transmit control data; a pump configured to pump medical fluid to and from a patient based at least in part on control data received from the processing unit; an electronic panel comprising: a display surface, and at least one panel control unit configured to cause the electronic panel to display at least one user interface element that can be invoked by a user; at least one projector; and at least one camera; wherein the one or more processing units are configured to: process input received by the camera, determine a location of a physical object in a field of view of the camera based on the processed input, determine, based on processed input received on at least one occasion, that the location of the physical object represents an invocation of the at least one user interface element displayed on the electronic panel, and determine the control data based on the processed input.

Touchless interface for a medical treatment system

A dialysis machine (e.g., a peritoneal dialysis (PD) machine) can include a microphone and a component that provide voice recognition capabilities to the machine. For example, in some implementations, the component is configured to identify and/or authenticate voice commands that are issued by a user. The voice command may cause the dialysis machine to carry out a dialysis function. Alternatively, the voice command may cause a user interface of the dialysis machine (e.g., a display, such as a touchscreen display) to be adjusted. A dialysis machine can also include a speaker for providing spoken information to a user. For example, in some implementations, the speaker can provide spoken instructions to assist the user in machine set-up, calibration, and/or operation. Such spoken instructions can be particularly useful in a home dialysis setting. In some implementations, the speaker can provide spoken alarms that are related to alarm conditions.

A vehicle is provided that includes a vehicle navigation system, a dialysis machine, and an interface providing an electrical communication between the dialysis machine and the vehicle navigation system. The dialysis machine is configured to perform a dialysis treatment on a patient while the vehicle is operating. The vehicle can be a car, a train, a plane, or another vehicle.

An autonomous vehicle is provided that includes an autonomous vehicle control system, a dialysis machine, and an interface providing an electrical communication between the dialysis machine and the autonomous vehicle control system.
