A method of assessing pressure flow study data is provided. The method is characterized by obtaining a select weighted average composite of select derived symptom sub-scores via use of a urodynamic system characterized by, in operative combination, a processor, memory and symptom score software executable by the processor, the urodynamic system receiving input from at least pressure and urine flow sensing devices. A flow rate efficiency sub-score is derived, along with a voided urine volume sub-score, a post void residual sub-score, a flow pattern sub-score and a pressure pattern sub-score.

Method and system for deriving a pressure flow study score and components thereof

A urodynamic investigation apparatus for receipt of urine from a bladder is provided. The apparatus is characterized by a tubular element, first and second fittings, and a sleeve element, for select passage of urine there through, within the tubular element. The tubular element is characterized by opposing first and second end portions, and a port. The fittings are adapted to be received by the opposing end portions of the tubular element so as to delimit an apparatus chamber. The sleeve element, suspended between the fittings within the chamber, has collapsed and open configurations. The collapsed configuration is indicative of a no urine flow condition, and the open configuration indicative of a urine flow condition, with the sleeve element urine flow condition being a function of pressure applied to the chamber via the port of the tubular element.

Urodynamic investigation apparatus, system and methods

A method of assessing bladder storage anomalies via utilization of an indwelling urinary drainage catheter is provided. A urodynamic assessment assembly is provided, the assembly characterized by a pressure sensor for vesical pressure measurement, a processor/controller for receiving, processing and/or displaying select urodynamic patient parameters comprising sensed/monitored pressure data, and a catheter balloon adaptor for operably uniting the pressure sensor of the urodynamic assessment assembly to a balloon inflation valve of the indwelling urinary drainage catheter, the indwelling urinary drainage catheter operably linked with the urodynamic assessment assembly. Vesical pressure is sensed via the vesical pressure sensor during a bladder emptying event, the bladder emptying event characterized by an application of variable resistance to fluid flow from the bladder via the indwelling urinary drainage catheter with vesical pressure/outlet resistance/flow rate relationships established based upon sensed vesical pressure values.

Bladder storage anomaly assessment

A vesical pressure measurement system is provided. One or more elements of the system are operably combinable with a previously deployed urinary drainage catheter. The system includes a urodynamic data system and a urinary drainage catheter balloon adaptor. The data system is characterized by a pressure sensor for vesical pressure measurement, and a processor/controller for receiving, processing and/or displaying select urodynamic patient parameters comprising sensed/monitored pressure data. The adaptor operably unites the pressure sensor of the data system to a balloon inflation valve of the catheter. The adaptor includes an adaptor valve for connection to the balloon inflation valve, and a housing, the housing including a balloon inflation valve portion and an adaptor valve portion, the portions urgingly uniteable in furtherance of establishing and maintaining a secure interface between the balloon inflation valve and the adaptor valve.

Diagnostic drainage catheter assembly and methods

The invention is a therapeutic sports towel that integrates the features of a sports towel and a stretching device into a single device that incorporates the desired properties of the two. The therapeutic sports towel is thus absorbent and convenient to carry on a golf bag or drape over a shoulder, while also having the appropriate resistance and recoil properties for therapeutic stretching. Further, the combination of a towel material with a stretchable material ensures that the therapeutic stretching has a predetermined maximum length, to prevent the overstretching that is commonly associated with therapeutic stretching bands and so forth. Various embodiments of the invention include one or more pockets for holding ice or ice packs, such that the ice or ice packs may be retained in place against sore or pulled muscles by tying or fastening the therapeutic towel appropriately around the body or a body appendage. Further, the therapeutic sports towel may include straps that are encased in end pockets, such that the straps can be revealed as necessary for use in particular exercises.

An aspect disclosed herein involves methods and systems for determining a neurospinal functional index (NSFI) provide a single index quantifying a plurality of neurospinal functions, for example, algometry, range of motion, electromyography, thermography, and heart rate variability. Embodiments of the NSFI are useful in providing an objective index of a patient's neurospinal function, for example, in chiropractic assessments.

A method for recalibrating a bilateral thermal scanner comprising a first thermal sensor and a second thermal sensor can comprise acquiring a first set of thermal scanning data with the thermal sensors in their normal positions; optionally analyzing the first set of thermal scanning data is analyzed to determine if the data has a one-sided bias; acquiring a second set of thermal scanning data with the positions of the thermal sensors reversed; determining a calibration from the first and second sets of thermal scanning data; and optionally correcting at least one of the first and/or second set of thermal scanning data using the calibration.

Calibrating a thermal scanning system

A thermal scanning system and method. The thermal scanning system comprises a handheld thermal scanning device with wheels and three infrared sensors that are spaced to scan skin temperature on opposite sides of patient spinal columns of different sizes. Two out of the three sensors are selected for a particular patient, and the wheels are adjustable to accommodate the two selected sensors. The handheld device further calculates the distance traveled by the wheels by measuring the rotation of the wheels. The device has a trigger that allows a user to annotate the location of various anatomical landmarks, such as particular regions of a patient's spinal column. The device is adapted to take discrete temperature readings or rolling temperature readings. The thermal scanning system provides graphical displays and data analysis of the temperature readings from the sensors.

Adjustable thermal scanning system and method

An EMG monitoring system includes a matrix of detection electrode arrays that is positioned on the patient along his or her spine. The arrays are electrically connected through a switching mechanism to EMG amplifiers that are included in conventional monitoring instrumentation. A switch controller operates the switches to provide signals to the EMG amplifiers from selected sets of detection electrode arrays. The controller controls the switches to provide signals simultaneously to each EMG amplifier. If the monitoring instrumentation includes four EMG amplifiers, the matrix of electrode arrays and the switching mechanism may be used to take simultaneous measurements at two different spinal levels. If additional EMG amplifiers are included, simultaneous measurements at additional spinal levels may also be made. The matrix may also include redundant arrays and/or electrodes, such that the clinician can select the sets of electrodes that conform to the size of the patient.
