An example non-transitory machine-readable storage medium includes instructions to, when executed by the processor, capture an image of a face of a user viewing a display device, identify a light source in the image, and identify light from the display device reflecting off the face of the user. The example instructions are also executable to determine a signature of the light in the image by 1) positively weighting a light measurement from the light source in the image and 2) negatively weighting a light measurement emanating from the display device and reflecting off the face of the user. The example instructions are also executable to modify a display device setting based on the signature of the light in the image.

Display device modifications

A display device includes a plurality of pixels, a serial-to-parallel converter (SPC), a plurality of digital-to-analog converters (DACs), a plurality of switches, and a controller. The pixels are arranged in rows and columns. The columns include a first column and an adjacent second column. The SPC generates parallelized pixel data based on serial pixel data sent by a graphics controller. The DACs are coupled to the SPC and include a first DAC corresponding to the first column and a second DAC corresponding to the second column. The switches include a first switch that includes a first input coupled directly to an output of the SPC, a second input coupled to an input of the first column, and an output coupled to an input of the second column. The controller selects pixel data on one of the first input and the second input for output by the first switch.

In some examples, a host device comprises a network interface and a processor. The processor is to, in response to a request to share content with a remote device, display the content in a graphical user interface. The content is a video. The processor is to generate an image of the content. The image is a frame of the video. The processor is to generate a first representation of the image, receive second and third representations of the image via the network interface, determine a first similarity between the first representation and the second representation, determine a second similarity between the first representation and the third representation, compare the first similarity to a threshold, compare the second similarity to the threshold, and indicate whether the content is successfully shared with the remote device based on the comparison of the first similarity to the threshold and the comparison of the second similarity to the threshold.

Content representations

A display device includes pixels, a serial-to-parallel converter (SPC), a row driver, a column driver, and a switch. The pixels are arranged in rows and columns which include a first column and a first row. A first pixel resides at an intersection of the first row and first column. The SPC extracts, from a signal sent by a graphics controller, pixel data and a command. The row driver initiates a refresh of the pixels residing in the first row based on the pixel data. The column driver transmits the pixel data to the first column. During the refresh, the switch allows transmission of the pixel data to the first pixel when the command indicates that the first pixel is to be refreshed and prevents transmission of pixel data to the first pixel when the command indicates that the first pixel is not to be refreshed.

Controlling refreshes of pixels in display devices

A computing device includes a power circuit to provide up to a maximum amount of power. The computing device includes internal hardware having an actual current usage power, and ports that are each connectable to a peripheral device having an actual current port usage power. The computing device includes power manager hardware. Responsive to an overpower condition at the power circuit, the computing device is to disconnect a selected port from the power circuit.

A system and method for an HMD system including an HMD and a computing device. The computing device to render an image for the HMD, and transfer the image to the HMD without inactive pixels of the image. The inactive pixels include pixels outside of a viewable area of the image.

A technique includes sensing a wireless charging station that includes a wireless charging transmitter and determining a status for the machine based at least in part on the sensing of the wireless charging station. The technique also includes assisting with a process to wirelessly transfer power to the machine, where assisting includes causing the machine to provide guidance to the user based at least in part on the determined status.

A device for providing an alert for an event, the device includes a microphone to receive ambient sounds external to the device and a processor and memory to analyze the ambient sounds received by the microphone wherein, based on a priority level assigned to a type of audiovisual media being played on the device, the processor selectively activates a pass thru mode of the device in response to determining that one of the ambient sounds matches a trigger sound, the pass thru mode providing the alert for the event by interrupting the audiovisual media being played on the device such that the ambient sounds can be heard by the user.

Examples disclosed herein relate to a device to provide a bounded voltage range. Examples include a device to acquire a request for a voltage from a sink. In examples, the device determines whether the voltage is to be supplied from a battery of a source. The device is to further determine a bounded voltage range to supply to the sink according to the request for voltage and a state of the battery.

A method of charging a battery of a computing device includes determining an amount of charge remaining in a battery coupled to the computing device. The method further includes, in response to a determination that the amount of charge remaining in the battery has decreased more than a first predetermined percentage since connection to a power source during a first predetermined amount of time, adjusting a power state of at least one power consuming circuit of the computing device other than the battery.

A detector can determine if a cable attached to the data port is capable of providing power greater than a threshold level to the computing device. In some examples, an apparatus includes a housing comprising an inner surface provided with thermal members, and a thermal attachment to transfer heat generated by a heat producing component to the housing. The thermal attachment is thermally contacted with the inner surface of the housing, and the thermal members are arranged to steer heat from the heat producing component and transferred to the housing by the thermal attachment at a greater heat flow rate through the housing to a first region of the housing and at a lesser heat flow rate through the housing to a second region of the housing.

In some examples, a computing device includes a non-volatile memory, a volatile memory to store a page that is also stored in the non-volatile memory. As part of a hibernation process of the computing device, it is determined whether the page is sourced from a first type of non-volatile memory or a second type of non-volatile memory different from the first type of non-volatile memory. In response to determining that the page is sourced from the first type of non-volatile memory, cause storage of the page to the non-volatile memory, and in response to determining that the page is sourced from the second type of non-volatile memory, decline to store the page to the non-volatile memory.
