A method, apparatus, and system are provided for implementing debug data saving in host memory on a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIE) solid state drive (SSD). Upon Power Loss Interruption (PLI) event detected in a solid state drive (SSD), the SSD transfers debug data directly to the host system main (DRAM) memory via a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIE) bus.

In some examples, a storage device includes a first non-volatile memory array configured to store data from a host device and the storage device and a second non-volatile memory array configured to store data from the storage device, wherein the second non-volatile memory array is separate from the first non-volatile memory array. The storage device also includes a controller configured to store a virtual-to-physical mapping table to the first non-volatile memory array and store a portion of the virtual-to-physical mapping table to the second non-volatile memory array.

Techniques for caching results of a read request to a solid state device are disclosed. In some embodiments, the techniques may be realized as a method for caching solid state device read request results comprising receiving, at a solid state device, a data request from a host device communicatively coupled to the solid state device, and retrieving, using a controller of the solid state device, a compressed data chunk from the solid state device in response to the data request. The techniques may further include decompressing the compressed data chunk, returning, to the host device, a block of the data chunk responsive to the data request, and caching one or more additional blocks of the data chunk in a data buffer for subsequent read requests.

Salvaging event trace information in power loss interruption (PLI) scenarios, for use in solid-state drive (SSD) and hard disk drive (HDD) storage devices. If volatile state information that is salvaged after an inadvertent power loss were to include event trace information, then such information can provide a valuable debug resource. Event trace information from volatile memory is copied to a second memory upon a power on which is in response to a PLI event. A corrupt state of context reconstruction data stored on non-volatile memory is detected, and an indication of the corrupt state is set. The event trace information is passed to the host if requested based on the indication.

The method, computer program product and computer system includes assigning a logical storage adapter to an operating system of each of the logical partitions; creating a mapping from each of the logical partitions to a set of logical blocks in the storage device; and configuring the logical storage adapter using a hypervisor, so that a select partition can access a select set of logical blocks that the select partition is allowed to access.
