Process for preparing a polyformyl arylamine

A process for converting an arylamine into an arylamine derivative, includes (i) providing a first arylamine compound; (ii) formylating the first arylamine compound to form a formyl substituted arylamine compound, where the first arylamine compound is not a formyl substituted arylamine compound; and (iii) acidifying the formyl substituted arylamine compound, in the presence of a solvent and a solid organic catalyst, to convert formyl functional groups into acid functional groups to form an acidified compound.

Arylamine process

Processes for selectively hydrogenating double and/or triple bonds in organic molecules include providing at least one organic molecule containing a double and/or triple bond, providing at least one hydrogen donor molecule, and hydrogenating the double and/or triple bond in the presence of at least one catalyst. Processes for preparing arylamine molecules include selectively hydrogenating double bonds in arylamine compounds by providing at least one organic molecule containing a multiple bond, providing at least one hydrogen donor molecule, and hydrogenating the multiple bond in the presence of at least one catalyst. The processes provide efficient, cost-effective and safe methods for conducting selective hydrogenation reactions in the synthesis of organic molecules, such as charge-transport molecules.

Monoformylated arylamine processes and compounds

The present invention provides a process for preparing monoiodinated aromatic compounds that are useful as intermediates for preparing charge transporting and hole transporting amino compounds and have high purity with high yield and at low cost. A process for preparing aryl iodide compounds comprises reacting an aryl halide compound with a metal iodide, a metal catalyst and a catalyst coordinating ligand in at least one solvent to form an aryl iodide; and purifying the aryl iodide. A triarylamine compound and a process for preparing a triarylamine compounds reacting the aryl iodide with a diarylamine is also provided. Further, a photoconductive imaging member comprising a charge transport layer that comprises at least one triarylamine compound prepared reacting the aryl iodide with a diarylamine is provided.
