Indirubin is the major active anti-tumor component of a traditional Chinese herbal medicine used for treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). Indirubin derivatives (IRDs) potently reduce the viabilities of various cancer cells and affect kinase activities. IRDs disclosed herein provide new therapeutics for cancer and conditions regulated by the kinase activities.

Indirubin derivatives of formula (I) wherein R represents -(A)- Ror &#x2014;CO&#x2014;N(R,R) with &#x2022;A being C1-C5 alkylene group, optionally substituted by one or several Aradical, Abeing an halogen Br, OH, ORor NH, Rbeing C1-C5 alkyl; &#x2014;Rbeing halogen, OH, N(R, R); Rand R, identical or different, being C1-C5 alkyl, optionally substituted by Asuch as above defined, or Rand Rare part of a cycle with 5 or 6 elements optionally comprising another heteroatom such as O or N; &#x2022;n=1&#x2212;5. It also relates to the biological application thereof.
